It’s why many golfers slice and struggle to hit farther, straighter drives. Starting your downswing with hip turn brings in many problems that cause higher scores. For one, you have a greater chance of swinging over the top when you. Second, you miss out on using the hips as a power source to hit the ball much farther. One of the most profound things I learned about driving the ball well was slowing down my hip turn. It goes against everything you hear in the golf swing, but it’s changes everything. This golf tip shows you how to use your hips in the correct sequence to drive farther and straighter.

Absolute gold; just spectacular. Thanks Tommy for keeping it crispy and making this stinkin game so dam easy.. .or, easy to have loads of fun, again…just outstanding…..!!
Thank you Tom for your great videos. With cold weather here and leaves all over my course your videos have me looking forward to Spring
Tom, I’ve followed your swing lessons for a couple of yrs with success. Recently I started opening my stance with all of my clubs and I feel like I get through the ball more powerfully and more consistent (I’m 62 yrs old). I can even hit a draw this way. Does this make any sense? I’d like to see a video on this at some point.
My hips are gonna need more than a psychiatrist
Great but what happened to moving the left hip laterally from the top to start the downswing? That was a tip in a prior vid?
Hey Tom, do you still keep the weight forward doing this? Thanks again!
With that little delay, it LOOKs like you're using the ground by getting the lead leg down as the club goes down and then pushing off to fire the legs and the hands through the ball. Am I getting this right and, maybe more importantly, what is the FEEL I should go for to make that move?
What brand driver are you gaming today?
Thank goodness when I heard that advice when I first started playing 35 years ago I didn’t completely understand it. I thought it meant don’t let your hands crash in to your hip, which made me naturally hit a draw. So it worked out for me, but just by mistake.😅
Golden advice! Definitely need a video of course management. Best explanation on YouTube
"that guy's house is in play, again!"
Buggar….. just wasted a driving range session trying to get the hips starting first…

it's like Tom watches me play on Sunday, and that's how he knows what video to make next. With my golf game he'll never run out of content. Thanks Mr. Saguto, you are the man.

I’ve read that one should start transferring the weight from the right foot to the left foot before completion of the backswing. Some say by a slight fall to the left first. I find that hard to do. Tom, what in your view starts the downswing? What actually starts the transition from backswing to downswing?
Great video Tom !!!
great video!!! great work here!!
so same concept applies to the irons as well ? keep the foot on the ground ?
That’s good for people with that swing issue.
For a golfer like me with quick hands and a tendency to throw the hands early that suggestion doesn’t apply.
Great video, Tom! Unrelated question, did you switch to regular size grips from the Jumbomax grips? If so, why? I’m curious because I have Jumbomax grips on all my clubs. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Another great lesson as usual from the best teacher on you tube!
Thanks Tom. Couldn’t have explained this better. Have already sent this to more than 20 at my home course. Sandhurst in Melbourne. Google my home course out as I’d be interested in your thoughts. Also, any plans to visit Australia?
Another great video Tom, thank you.
