thanks and a question, given the circle or snow angel concept, to swing the arms forward, do you not have to let the arms, with the club over the back shoulder, go away from the target first in an arc that then goes toward the target about hip high? Davis Love III was taught this by his dad.
Great tip, Trish! This reinforces what you and I discussed a few weeks ago with respect to swing plane. I got off plane on the forward swing because I initiated the movement with my shoulders rather than my ARMS. Imagine the nasty shots created by that outside-in action! Your slo-mo drill back to square will help a lot. Hope you didn't get too wet because it looked like the rain was starting 🙂.
Arm swing or body swing nobody agrees…Personally i don’t feel anything in my upper arms 😢
Trish. Really like your swing thought of initiating the forward swing with both arms and allowing the whole club to swing to the target with no interference and the body responds. Once the forward swing motion is started you just let it go. As you say, simplify the swing. Thanks for all your efforts.
This was very well explained and demonstrated. Unfortunately, It is possible to pull/swing with your left arm too much in the FW and end up with golfers elbow like I"ve have done. any suggestions would be highly appreciated. I"ve had this problem for 2 yrs and I practice 4-5x a wk. Very difficult for me to stop doing that.
Since the "upper arms" are shoulder width apart on our bodies…how do you maintain an equal force in the swinging of each arm, even though they swing together in the FS.?? . I realize the arms swing together, but its so easy to pull with the left arm from the top of the backswing or just the opposite, and use more of the right arm in the forward swing. How do you make sure they are swinging equally >>>> or are they not suppose to? Would you consider doing a video and elaborating on this abit more? I know if you pull down too much with your left arm, you slice it..and if you use too much right arm, you hook it. Is there a drill that could help with this?
Hi Trish, new poster here. Just for clarification. I’ve seen that many videos that say initiate the downswing with the hips but you or you via Manuel are saying the arms. Am I correct?
Hi Trish. I’ve been reading Manuel de la Torre’s book and have been practicing his concepts. I love the simplicity of it! One thing I noticed today at the range focusing on the “using my arms” in the forward swing. While my contact has greatly improved I have a tendency for my shots to start left of the target line and fly straight. Meaning my line of flight is left of my intended line. Any suggestions?
I love your videos. I've read Manuel's book and Ernest Jones' book, and I have watched them on video. I'm a total believer in swinging the club and in the absence of those two great teachers you are a key part in continuing their work. Thank you.
Trish, what great tempo you have! Are you pausing a little at the top of your backswing?
Trish, do you not hend your knees during the swing?
9pm Trish love it all that you have provided me with. Quick question: from start of take away what is position of hands. Is it palms down? Once at top and on down swing, and as you come into contact does palms again come down facing ground? Hope I explained in understanding way!
Thank you. Of course reason for asking is I have gotten in a funk lately
When do you release the forward swing, Chris? At the fold point, which may feel like flipping but goes along with what other pros have said about not being able to release too soon.
