Virginia Tech junior outfielder Jack Hurley was selected 80th overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Hurley is a toolsy player who has played all three outfield positions while with the Hokies but has the athleticism and talent to be a centerfielder at the next level. At the plate, the lefty batter has made remarkable progress over his three seasons. He has seen an increase in his average and his power, while also decreasing his strikeouts. In 2023, he hit .327 with 17 home runs, 48 RBI, and in ACC play, he had a .743 slugging percentage. A possible five-tool player, Jack Hurley could turn out to be one of the steals of the draft for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
