SLEEPER DRIVER OF THE YEAR? // Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II Driver Review

Today, Ian and Mikey test out the Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II.

The Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II is a driver designed to be a versatile while providing an optimal blend of distance, forgiveness, and accuracy

With its low-spin design and forward-placed sole weight, the Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II driver promotes a low trajectory for optimal distance, making it well-suited for faster, higher swing speed golfers.

Is the Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II the biggest sleeper of 2023?

  1. Just switched to ZX5 MkII from Ping LST – Unreal difference – Srixon is way longer and straighter – Paired with 6-X Ventus TR blue….. Amazing difference – can't wait for next season already!!

  2. I have the zx mKII 3 wood and the thing is a bomber!!! For me it was better than the stealth 2 and much cheaper!

  3. Never found a Callaway driver I liked before Paradym. Had to get it in 12* and bump it down to 11 but it's been a beast for me all year.

  4. using a 9 degree 2006 ping rapture , example shot – ballspeed 164 , launch 12.6, carry 279 , total 305 . would a fitting make a difference because from watching many videos i really cant see that it would gain much as the numbers on the old ping the same as every driver i see in vids.

  5. Another great video, lads! Mikey shouldn’t focus on speed, rather neutralizing swing path and improving strike location, which would optimize ball flight and increase ball speed through better smash factor/increased efficiency.

  6. Don’t see it on the build bench. Why is that ? People don’t want to buy a Srixon driver ? Or do the oems beat it out during fittings ?

  7. The 5LS is such a unique club. I desperately need a low-forward CG but hated that those usually meant inherently less forgiveness. I love my 5LS – played it all summer.

  8. Is it accurate to say that CG location influences ball flight through influencing Dynamic Loft? Or can it influence ball flight as well if the same Dynamic Loft is delivered?

  9. The zx5 has been in the bag most of the year. This head has been really good for me. It really wants to go forward. I’m still trying to find the best combo but I’m pretty set on the head. The front back dispersion is really good and it’s got enough loft on it to keep the spin friendly for shape. I haven’t had issues turning it over and loosing spin. In minus 1 at 8 up I’m launching it at 16 ish and spinning it 2100 I’m not sure how to improve on perfect. It’s everything I like in a driver. Looks good , sounds great and the heavy head makes for a nice balanced build. Still trying to land on a shaft but evo 6 and tr blue have been the 1a 1b with ZF and GD XC also in the mix. I’m seriously considering the VF. I love the Ventus performance but prefer that slightly softer handle feel. I could very easily go back into a GP as well. Time will tell. It’s hard to screw with something that you’re scoring with for the sake of feels since they are so fickle day to day anyways.

  10. Would love to see Mikey test the Tour Edge E723, especially with the Autoflex. Ping G430 Max forgiveness but in a normal weight head. It could be the ultimate forgiving bomber.

  11. this has been my driver since it came out. I crush it and way better than my original Stealth from last year. So so so, good.

  12. You mention raising the toe of the driver using the setting's tool. When I was fit a number of years ago the fitter said I needed a 2 degree flat lie on my irons. All these years I've thought the woods should be the same. Is this correct?

  13. Tried this driver for a bit — maybe it was the shaft I got it with but I could not make it work; too often I would almost crown it. I also tried the TSR3 and found it too would not work (weird I couldn't get club speed up) — ended up with a Ping G410 LST.

  14. Srixon is making some seriously underrate equipment right now. 5LS, zx7 is about as good of a driver/iron combo in the market

  15. Why don’t they ever show club head speed, that is the easiest comparison to get an idea how it would sit in my hands.

  16. Question Mike and Ian. Why didn’t Mikey try a different height tee when he adjusted the Loft? Next time if Mikey hits it high on the Face adjust the Tee too

  17. I got to hit this the other day at the range. Shaft was too weak for me but the head looks incredible at address, very much like a titleist. Great feel, good distance and very anti-left

  18. Got fitted for mine at that start of these year at my local club champion. Have absolutely loved the driver, but the sleeper has been the matching 3 wood. That thing is a beast!

  19. Great effort Mikey👏🙌. I was wondering If you guys have tried Velocore Blu 6S and 9.5°or 10° not sure what was your max height numbers and AOA.👋thx Lukas

  20. Just bought one for…. $270 used and in good shape… let’s hope I can carry further than 275 yards I currently do with the previous gen zx5
