Why MIZUNO Don’t Make a BEST SELLING Driver?

Why MIZUNO Don’t Make a BEST SELLING Driver? Well that’s down to one thing, people’s misconceptions about their products, Drivers and Woods especially and that goes for many other brands that aren’t necessarily known for their Woods. Lets put the latest offering to the test to see if it struggles in any area and why Mizuno Don’t make a Best Selling Driver…

  1. I have a ST220Z that I’ve have played for the last 7 or 8 months, I find it a top notch driver in every area. I paid about &225 new from a eBay seller. It’s as long as anything I’ve played and I was playing a PXG gen 4 driver before this one. It is very forgiving as well. The sound is very acceptable.

  2. I have an STx from 2-3 years ago. How would you rate the degree of improvement in consistency from that generation to the current 230 line? Not noticeable, slightly noticeable, definitely noticeable? I went back to your review of the STx but you were purposely hitting it everywhere on the club face in that video, so perhaps not an apples to apples review?? Thx!

  3. People will still buy the other OEM's from the USA, as they have the market covered. Where i live Mizuno are just as expensive as some of the other brands, Cobra re less expensive by 10% so Mizuno should have a look at their pricing to be competitive, as the resale is poor.

  4. I wanted to look at the stz230, but it took 3 months to get my stz230 hybrid so I looked elsewhere. Callaway was delivered in 8 days!

  5. Here in Australia, Mizuno woods have always been more expensive than any other brands, although this year it's the same price as the Stealth 2 and Paradym as TM and Callaway have raised their prices to match. They are not widely available through the big commercial golf retailers and hence the current model (st230), does not get discounted as often as TM or Callaway counterparts. It may be Mizuno's marketing strategy to be a "premium" brand and to be sold through the pro-shops of private golf clubs.
However, that said, the previous year's model usually goes on a fire sale of sorts around the December/January timeframe so I'm hoping to pick some up then. Although next year Mizuno is not releasing a new model so this might not happen …

  6. I purchased my STX 230 a month ago and have played ten rounds. I chose it after testing the STZ 230, Callaway Paradym, and Ping G430. It is long, and I can work it in both directions when needed. Pair it with the Mizuno RB Tour ball and enjoy the high-launching and low-spin bombs.

  7. I like your videos but you lost me when you rated the 223’s better than Ping’s I 230’s. I have played both and the I230’s are miles better than the 223’s. You have to stop being a Mizuno fanboy. It’s hard to believe you are objective when you came to that conclusion with everything in your studio Mizuno.

  8. Great content as always Jay! Ive had the St 190 in the bag for a while now and i love it . Really am interested in upgrading to the 230. Might wait a bit until they go on sale in a few months but am in no rush to do so……

  9. Indirectly related, you mentioned the restriction on ball speeds off the club face by the USGA and R&A. This is to limit driver distance and to protect golf courses from becoming drive and wedge courses. However, how can this restriction be effective if there is no corresponding restriction on ball distance technology?

  10. I have an ST-Z in my holiday set and love it. Mizuno doesn't market its drivers like TM, Titleist etc and there aren't many around to demo in pro shops etc. I think that's a big part of why they don't sell as well. Also, Mizuno have a shorter shaft as standard than other brands which in some of the reviews online, costs it a bit of distance.

  11. Great review, the problem is most places only stock major brands. So if you go in for a fitting it's Callaway Tmade Ping or Cobra. I find this here in the US😊

  12. I bought the STZ230 recently. It’s a big improvement on its predecessor and incredibly stable.
I have no reservations recommending it. 👍

  13. The STG 220 is a beast. Man this club outdoes every driver ive owned using same Hzrdus RDX smoke shaft so cant say its the shaft. The adjustability of this thing is crazy and the feel

  14. Jay…how about doing a Mizuno Shaft Optimizer session to define why you play what you do. It would be very very informative. Thanks

  15. I’ve played the STX, the STX 220 and now the STX230 and I can totally agree with the wood’s being as good as anything else yet I always see the same people who make that ridiculous statement regarding their woods.

Anyone who thinks can see the numbers.

  16. As a young man i owned in the late 1990s a Mizuno driver. His head was smaller than any 3 wood is answering if i hitted the ball it sounded like a empty aluminum coke bottle. This model was the "hot metal et(?)" and i got them from a playing pro. With this driver I scored 7 under rounds abd won the championships in my club. Its was a fantastic performing driver's with a unique awful sound. But everybody knew immediately that the champion and best player is on the course! This driver crashed later and see i sticked from this moment on my 13° 3 wood, but i never forget this driver. I would stick the actual model if 8 wouldn't have no driver because i think he looks good! And that is what counts at the end for me….

  17. You narrate your message very clearly and concisely. Thank you and well done. BTW: My past club fitting experience(s) with retailers is that retailers focus on 3 brands maybe 4 brands if you are lucky which unfortunately excludes Mizuno. Note: Discovered & switched to Mizuno irons & wedges 15 years ago and will never go or return to another brand.
