The pending merger deal between LIV Golf and the PGA TOUR is quickly approaching the original framework agreement’s deadline, and yet there has been no new updates as to whether or not the deal between the two golf leagues will be solidified. We’re beginning to believe that the deal between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf is never going to happen. So if the deal between the PGA TOUR and LIV falls through, what will be the fate of each of these two golf leagues? Can LIV survive without a PGA TOUR merger, and can the PGA TOUR afford to compete with LIV without PIF funding?

  1. This year Rangegoats earned 15m from on course earnings alone. The merchandising is uncertain to date and there is only brand equity. The teams are to run themselves and become self financing.

  2. Private equity is going to make things run a little differently on the PGA Tour side. Private equity js going to demand control and a return on investment in a shorter period of time.

  3. Why didn't the PGA Tour go to PE? They did, but didn't want to lose control. PIF offered them money on much better terms. If PE was so great, it would have been a done deal already. Think about it. There would be no need to stall and dither.

  4. Look at who is on the board. They are all under the direction of the PGA. Also I get the possibility of new investors is a result of the Senate hearings when it was asked if they even tried to get other investors. If PIF ends up being the highest bidder can the PGA legally not choose them, or would that open the PGA into the monopolistic investigation that they were able to avoid with the merger.

  5. The PIF's plans are for 2030 and beyond, the money they are spending on this is basically an advertising budget like any company would. CW's views, low as they may be or not, but combined worldwide views, podcast, and other mentions, they are more than getting their moneys worth. Along with investing in the Asian tour, they could easily buy up the rest of the tours and combine, which could also be another way they grow LIV. PGAT is not the only option, or strategies the PIF can and will use.

  6. Now why would anyone want to talk to Phil about LIV, when they should be talking with the CEO, Greg Norman? Is Phil a high ranking officer on the LIV BOD? I doubt it. Also does LIV Golf even have a BOD similar to the PGA tour? Comparing just the money won by Gooch vs Scottie isn't valid. Scottie played against many more pros than Gooch. Also LIV only has a handful of top ranked players on their tour. Many of the LIV players are no longer in their prime and wouldn't do very well if they were still on the PGA tour. It's getting tiring trying to compare the 2 tours like they were evenly matched. LIV doesn't hold a candle to the PGA tour period.

  7. You guys saying LIV team final was not a wow to watch shows your bias It was great and the top players on LIV would beat the top PGA players in a blowout I didn’t bother with Ryder Cup lite the great players on LIV that weren’t picked condemned the US team to being humiliated

  8. Totally bias. This is getting to be like political shows. As golf fans LIV is awesome!! It’s only bad for PGA ($$$$). Stop the Arab backed BS. DP Tour is Arab backed but you never see that statement. The hypocrisy is laughable. True golf fans that listen to talking heads (XM PGA Tour Radio) are laughing at the obvious bias. Golf is great. Fans are the backbone. And the coverage of LIV (LIV + app) is way better watching. PGA is watching commercials all day and golf breaks in. Wake up!

  9. What has blown me away from the start is that people think the pif was actually going to start a golf league that would only last a year. Saudis are in it for fifty years at least. Remember, the PGA used to not exist too. PGA is dead, they killed themselves. Golf is new and exciting.

  10. So all the talk of participation/participating in a Saudi backed professional golf league is no longer a concern.

How much Chinese money, Russian oligarch money, Saudi money is in professional sports all over? Golf, basketball, hockey, baseball, tennis, football, etc etc etc? Do we know? How many are run by other than what we consider American sports?
Please address and answer these questions.

  11. Taloor gooch is an elite golfer. You really think Talor, Bryson, Dustin , Bubba, Phil can’t play in the PGA at the top, or attract people to watch Golf and feed those who want to emulate them in the sport , all those hundreds of millions of recreational golfers? Then you are out of your minds and have no credibility.

  12. That much money isn’t going to change a life? Really? It will create generational wealth.
Why not have it and fund and buy things here? Support things here? Build your own causes and philanthropy with all that money? Your reasoning and some others just doesn’t make any sense.

  13. Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in Formula one, soccer, WWE, golf and other sports and real estate, and corporations throughout the world. If you are going to get all up against their human rights policies, which are very very problematic, then it has to go for everything, not just picking what you would support or object to them getting into. You would have to boycott or oppose their involvement in everything. Which is very very hard in an interconnected world with some countries and some individuals and families having money that makes whatever they want to do, able to be done and not opposed or avoided. Any in between position, or opposition to something just in your realm of interest is hypocritical. Period.

Take the money and do good things with it.
They are then funding your ability to fund and support what you value.

  14. The Big push will be from guys Not on Tigers SIM League Buddy List. I always laugh about players Not feeling comfortable taking money from the Saudis But they take monies from China. The PGA must also remember that Saudi Owned companies supply $40 + Billion/yr in advertising for the Tour. The talk of teams being purchased, before the U.S. Open it was stated that Koepka was offered $2Billion for his team from Nike.

  15. So, it's ok that USA companies "witness wash " their money with billions invested in Saudi $ ,and government selling billions to Saudi…then its ok to take $$$ ??? 😂😂
