  1. Ripper GC still have a few options open to them > Cameron Davis, Lucas Herbert, Jason Day who are all top 100 players. Unless Cam goes for Harrison Crowe or Harrison Endycott who are both young & just starting out. So to try & continue making it an all Aussie team will be difficult. It's a difficult one as these players seem to be PGAT/DP stalwarts somewhat. My preference would be for Jason Day (was Min Woo Lee) as he will have a tonne of eyeballs on him but I think he would also make the team to play better & stronger which leaves Cam to do the great things that we saw him do in the first half of 2022. Jason Day doesn't come back to Australia enough to play the Aussie Open & PGA & now he has his 5th child so not sure how a world golf tour like LIV would suit him but also is buddy buddy with certain PGAT players that may see him on the outer somewhat if he went to LIV; maybe 🙂

  2. I think Jason Day would be a solid add and definitely contribute way more than a Pat Perez level guy. I think JDay is a guy who would add a solid personality to LIV and also have the ability to win a LIV event or two

  3. Excellent analysis. Wonder if expanding his search throughout Australasia might help to identify new talent for Ripper GC rather than seeking out big names. With more International events in 2024 Asian colleagues might be well suited.

  4. Ripper needs to decide what the team mantra is , doing shoe’s and looking like they are all drinking buddies who look more like they are going to a BBQ than being focused on winning a golf tournament isn’t going to get it done in the long run , Cam is a nice bloke but I believe it’s his “behind the scenes”team that is calling the shots , being young and a team owner in a new league is well above his pay grade , as for getting a better team , he needs to look at the Aussie guys who are good players on the Asian tour , Scott Hend would be a perfect fit , he lives in the US but plays mostly in Asia , could do with the cash , solid player , better than Jones and Morgan

  5. As an Aussie, I agree they need to drop the 100% Australian line up! If Leesh & Cam are there we’ll still follow them!

I think all teams locking themselves into “national identity” are foolish! Mate we want to support our stars on a team with a kick arse roster

  6. Yes had higher hopes for Ripper GC. As you said cam lead the team on his own pretty much. Leash is a great player just seemed to be going thru the motions. Matt Jones again did not shoot too many low rds. Jed was lucky he won the right tournament the Aus PGA (won at Royal Queensland his home course). Liv (Norman) purely signed him thinking he was going to be the next Great white shark who himself came out of the Royal qld course in his youth as an assistant trainee pro. Wade Ormsby is way more seasoned pro was put on the bench due to Jed’s contract. Going forward Australia have 50 players that can fill the 4th spot that are very accomplished players on various tours around the world. (Travis Smyth played 3 events on liv with no contract from the Asian international series, but was put bk on the Asian tour). From a marquee signing Jason Day is the only guy liv could potentially get (replace Matt Jones) as he is not tired up to tigers tgl. However having a big family I don’t think he will sign to liv in the next few seasons. Comfortable living in Ohio plus his win on PGA Tour this year has 2yrs of full status to play the big events.

  7. none of the ripper played up to their capabilities this year. Too much off season play??? Jed could make it back, but if not, a lot of aussie options that would be an upgrade if they are hungry to play.

  8. cam smith has a driving problem – perhaps he should switch to try Bryson`s driver which gave Bryson the accuracy and confidence that turned his game around —- feel should drop M Jones — get Jason Day +1 if not an Aussie get Fox NZ from DPTOUR – has PGAT rights next yr —— Agree with points I have advocated a change to points top 36 – will encourage players to try harder when team not going podium

    great summary again – jake

  9. Love your take on this. I'm an Aussie and agree with everything you've said.
Aussie kids will mostly grow up playing and supporting team based sports so I think Cam takes that aspect seriously with respect to getting the most out of the team. He just needs a supporting cast around him.
