Mountain State 2.0: Josh Daiek is Back in Search of Nevada’s Best Hidden Ski Spots | Salomon TV

Redemption. In the end, that was the objective for Josh Daiek and his crew in this sequel to last year’s adventure. In the first Mountain State, they embarked on a quest to find solitude and challenging lines in the middle-of-nowhere Nevada. But that one line had gotten the best of them, and there was no way they weren’t going back to give it another go. You know who had different plans? Mother Nature, that’s who. She turned the snow faucet on full blast and pointed it straight at Nevada, stacking up snow in the mountains in record fashion. Did they get redemption? I guess you’ll have to watch to find out. Did they have some of the deepest days and ski some of the rowdiest lines they ever thought possible? You’re damn right they did.

  1. this is so sick! Im a proud Nevadan and am beyond stoked to see you guys hit some of these mountains. Ive been exploring this state my whole life and feel like i still have so much to see. There is so much more alpine than just the rubies. love it!

  2. Josh should check out the schell creek wilderness if he hasn’t already. Including going off North Schell Peak towards Utah, that line looked gnarley when I hiked to the top.

  3. Great Basin is like a micro patagonia.

I’ve led mtn leadership courses in Great Basin during the winter and be ready for the wind.

We camped – 3 or 4 tents – at a designated spot and a gust of wind blew down a monster tree onto a tent where not 5 minutes before a student had been organizing her stuff…I thought she was for sure dead but she had left to go to the bathroom 😅

  4. I'm a skier and map nerd, and I've honestly never once looked at mountains in Nevada (aside from Tahoe area) for ski objectives. Thank you guys for shedding some light on some epic terrain and skiers.

  5. Was that first segment the East Humboldt Range? Lucky to have a record snow season. Damn, you guys ski fast!
