  1. You are a Collingwood legend Scott (The spiritual leader of the Mighty Maggies) Go Pendles, Go Pies…

  2. Cheshire cat is from Alice through the looking glass. Its a cat that becomes invisible and all you see is the smile

  3. This is as good an insight into a game, a humans thoughts and how bloody good he is. Pendles has to be up there as the best as a player, but as a football brain? Maybe the best ever!

  4. You are everything this great club stands for! True champion and the greatest Collingwood player to Don the colours!! Congratulations pendles!

  5. Fabulous insights Pendles. Super interview too. I went to 8 Grand finals, one a draw, which we lost between 1964-1989. Losses In 1964 by 4 points, 1966 by 1 point, 2002 by 9 points, 2018 by 5 points.
THIS TIME WE WERE READY. Collingwood legends forever: Pendlebury; Sidebottom; De Goey; Crisp; Mitchell; Hill, the whole team & coaches. I'm so proud.
COLLINGWOOD. COLLINGWOOD. COLLINGWOOD. Our fighting words that haunt opposition teams.
Fly: "We are NOT finished yet!". Bring it on Magpies. Carn the Pies.

  6. Absolute Champion couldn’t imagine how it feels as a player when the siren goes but i know the feeling when it goes as a fan is something in itself

  7. As a lifelong passionate Collingwood supporter who was at the Grand Final with my tribe, this game was very hard to process, especially after the emotions of 2018, 2011, 2003 & 2002 lingering in the background.

It was sensory and emotional overload for us Pies supporters to the point that we weren't able to really take it all in because we literally had to wait until the siren to let out what was within. That raw emotion translated in to the loudest roar of relief ever at the end of the game.

One of the loudest cheers and shows of emotion was when Sidey was slung in that tackle resulting in that 50m penalty towards the end. If you have a look at the Pies supporters in the background, every single person was out of their seats and motioned for the 50. It was a sight and a noise to behold and the defining moment of the game.

Aside from that game changing moment, you may notice on replay that outside of the first Nick Daicos Goal, Pendlebury, Degoey and the Sidebottom goals, we Pies supporters were relatively subdued and not really really able to take in the game because of the sheer magnitude of what was at stake, the level of intensity combined with the fear of being heartbroken.

I feel that concentration by the supporters actually made all the difference to the energy in the stadium and somehow contributed to the Amazing outcome. For once we didn't get ahead of ourselves and that is the great lesson! We remained present and in the moment, waiting for it to unfold without any resistance or attachment to outcome.

It was like keeping the lid on a pressure cooker and not releasing it until we were cooked 😉

The players sensed that too and everyone I speak to agrees the game was a dream-like blur…and in need of a second watch to take it all in and fully appreciate it for the spectacle it was. By the end of this game a lot of supporters were mentally and physically spent after 2 years of unbelievably close games. It all culminated in the 2023 Premiership 🏆 and boy was it worth the energy and emotion. What a wild ride! Unlike anything ever seen in AFL History with all those close victories.

This Legendary Grand Final is precisely like Pendlebury…it will age like a fine wine and get better with time!

As we have witnessed, Themes definitely do count for something…"Made it Legendary"

    P.S. Interesting observation to contemplate…

02 & 03 makes 23 (2-0-23) meaning the two Grand finals will be zero'd out in 23, and more than made up for those two grand finals against the Lions, of which coincidentally, two individuals, McRae and Leppa were an integral part of. It's like there was an intelligent master plan that required precisely 20 years (making it 20 '23) of patience to ripen, mature and unfold. How phenomenal is that??? A 20 year wait making it 20-23 to get karma for 02/03!

There are so many significant narratives associated with this game and season, not least the birth of McRae's baby 🍼 on the same day, that it has captured the imagination of AFL fans, reporters and commentators alike, no matter who one barrack's for and as a result will go down as folklore.

  8. You are are real champion loved watching from the start to now you are to me the best Collingwood player and looks like play 3 more years and a great teacher 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  9. Just riveting listening every word the man says and how he calmly articulates each play >>no words other than easiest the best collingwood player ever

  10. Wow! I mean wow! That was the most enthralling podcast viewed from an old school life long Collingwood diehard supporter! & with ears to hear & mind enough to quantify! I can safely say? Or assume in liew of possible perceived bias? That this brilliant Collingwood champion! Will be the most sought after coach in waiting! I got a feeling his coaching whenever it be? will become modern day legendary stuff to become folklore

  11. thank god we got this bloke at pick 5 ,,,thank god, ,,,,,without him there was no way we would have taken home the cup,, a true champion,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,game overrrrrrrrrrr

  12. So happy for Pendlebury. One of the best Pies players ever. Just love his leadership and commitment to the team.

  13. Great stuff. Love hearing from Pendles, absolute champion of the game, greatest Collingwood player ever and maybe even greatest player this century.

  14. Real shame Pendlebury didn’t hang on one more year as skipper. He so deserves the tag premiership captain, but regardless he is the general.
