Tuck Your Arm IN -The Most Important Lesson From the Best Ball Striker of All Time

Ben Hogan’s best golf ball striking tip comes from using the right arm like this in the golf swing. The right arm plays a huge role in the golf swing. It sets the golf club on the proper backswing and downswing path. It makes all the important positions happen without thinking. Instead of playing positions, golfers who use the right arm correctly need to only focus on turning their shoulders. The rest of the swing will take care of itself.

There’s a reason why the right arm has helped millions of golfers improve their ball striking. There’s a reason why Ben Hogan, the best golf ball striker of all time used his right arm like this. This golf tip works wonders. Instead of overthinking the swing, use Ben Hogan’s right arm secrets. You’ll love the why the strike feels with the golf ball.

  1. Thanks Tom, your golf tips have helped me rekindle my love for the game once again…..I guess it helps when you are hitting flush crispy draws off the PXG irons! Are you still incorporating the Straight Stick in your drills?

  2. Tom…This lesson is a tremendous add on to the getting more distance from the driver lesson you posted two weeks ago. Played Tradition a couple of weeks ago and mentioned you to one of the rangers and he spoke very highly of you…which is nice.

  3. You are so positive all the time. You bring it over any time nicely. Thanks…

  4. I’ve tried all of these things and I still shank it, so depressing, making me wanna quit the game of golf and I’m about 3 years in, 12 handicap and I just can’t sort my irons out, I’m in two worlds

  5. Sorry Tom, although Ben Hogan is probably one of the best, the greatest ball striker of all time was a guy by the name of Moe Norman. Moe Norman could hit trees or objects 200 yards away. In fact there is a story where he was paired up with Ben Hogan, if memory serves me well, at a Canadian open. There was a hole with a creek at 230 yards, and Moe was taking out his driver. Ben said, “kid, you can’t get past that creek.” Moe said, “I am not going for the creek, I am going for the bridge. Ben shook his head and probably said, whatever!! Sure enough, Moe rolled his ball on the bridge and unto the other side. Ben was flabbergasted!! Look him up. Sad thing is many Canadians, don’t even know of him either.

  6. With your stack and tilt, quiet hands and glue the arms to the body lessons I dropped from a score of 105 at the beginning of the season to 85 today. And you made the swing so easy and repeatable, not to mention the increase in distance with all clubs. I have never had success like this before from any other lessons. Thank you Tom. I really appreciate what you have done for my game. As you say, "golf should be fun" and you made it really fun for me! Not to mention the bragging rites that I now have.

  7. Tom im trying to save my brothers golf life… i been sending ur videos to him and he said my swing looks exactly like urs😂.. the best complement ive ever got

  8. This is probably the number 1 tip from Tom that's made a big difference for me. Went from hitting the driver 200ish to around 240. No more slices either unless I get lazy

  9. Is this like putting a sock under your arm and not letting the sock fall out under your arm?? Thanks. Ken P

  10. Excellent tips. Right arm glued. Weight forward. Got it. That makes a happy golf swing. The Porsche of golf swings. Thanks Tom.

  11. An excellent video Tom on the importance of that Right Arm Being Tucked Into the Right Side! I have been working on this for quite some time now and it is progressing nicely. And, the minute it leaves its position, the results, as you showed, are not good! Well Done Tom! Always enjoy your input and presentation!

  12. Tom, thanks for these lessons. I won my first senior skins game last week. This weight forward and tucked elbow concept is amazing!!!!!!! Makes the game a lot more fun when you get confidence in your swing.

  13. I have watched this right elbow multiple
Times in your video. When I swing it that’s my only swing thought to keep that elbow tucked in. I feel that I put immense amount of pressure to keep it tucked in .. is that normal or am I overthinking it too much. Tia again ajd awesome video as usual

  14. I don't think there is a much better tip than this one, or a better online training course than Tom's. Since I have tucked my trail elbow in, staying attached, I'm hitting the ball straight and further than I have in my life. I am also making sure I have the proper grip, which I learned in Tom's online training course, keeping the crease and V's in the grip. In Tom's course I made changes to correct my grip that made everything else so much easier than it ever has. The new grip did feel foreign, but not long at all. All I had to do was start hitting balls with it and honestly, it feels like a luxury grip. Ball striking feels better than ever. I also learned how to time my swings, for example my irons swing time is saying 1000 and 1 in my mind. The Driver, I swing slow enough to give my swing time to happen. If I swing to hard, nothing has time to happen, except going to the desert. I look like I'm from the desert, I had been there so long. Everybody learns at a different pace. It took me some time before Tom's online course changed my golfing life for life in a direction I just couldn't get there on my own , watching video after video of different pros, not until I went through the course. I'm starting over and going through it again. I love golf again and Tom's course was my last go at it. I told my wife, if this didn't work, I'll have to quit. I was very frustrated then. LOL

  15. I would’ve quit golf if it wasn’t for Mr. Saguto. Once I started implementing these things, I was suddenly able to play decent enough to where I can play with anyone and not make a fool of myself. Golf is fun again.
