Reliving The War takes an in-depth look at the “Monday Night War”, a period of time when WWF Raw went head to head with WCW Nitro for television ratings glory. With Raw on the USA Network and Nitro on TNT, fans had to choose which show they would watch, and both companies put on some great content to keep fans from switching the channel.

On Nitro this week, Ric Flair not only books himself in a match against Hollywood Hogan for Superbrawl IX, he also lets his son wrestle Eric Bischoff; the Bischoff vs David Flair match has to be one of the funniest matches ever put on WCW television. Rey Mysterio shares his opinion on Lex Luger while the Total Package tells Rey he wants to remove his mask, and in the main event we’ve got a Triple Threat match between Scott Hall, Goldberg and Bam Bam Bigelow.

Raw is War is the go home show before the 1999 Royal Rumble. Stone Cold Steve Austin understands there’s a target on his back heading into the rumble match, but he promises throw everyone over the top rope on his road to WrestleMania XV. Chyna takes on Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe in a 2-on-1 match, and the main event is a Corporation vs Corporation affair when The Rock battles Kane.

  1. During the Vince McMahon hype video, at 17:20, he hits a stunner on the guy wearing a blue mask and a red top. The masked man is non other than Kurt Angle, who at this point was training for his eventual debut 10 months later.

  2. NWO bored me to death from the beginning so after 2 years of the same promo and same ending and same swerves you can imagine how checked out i was on WCW by this point

  3. Just wanted to say thanks for making this series! It's not only gotten me back into wrestling, but is also helping me get through a rough emotional time right now. My wife's got our dog (we're still together but he just loves her more), but I've got some sweet wrestling moves again.

  4. As soon as Discos wolfpac music started playing on my headphones (here in the gym on the elliptical), a big powerlifter across the gym randomly started doing a random disco Inferno style dance😂😂😂😂
    Not even kidding!

  5. Where did the Royal Rumble-McMAn promo come from, it sounded real!!! Absolutly hilarious!!

  6. I'd forgotten that this Nitro actually had the NWO losing to another faction!

  7. What is amazing to me is as you’re going through this era (December – February 1998-1999) this was when I was in San Diego at the yellow hell just outside the airport (MCRD San Diego).

I was trying to so hard to get info on what was happening and finding out that WCW was just this giant sinking ship was so disappointing.

I never got to see this era live and only found out about the major things when we were able to get info from home.

  8. A tie? Really? You say the matches were better on WCW and even got some enjoyment out of the Flair match while WWF didn’t have any good matches, but because you liked the ending you thought it was a tie? WWF has been winning for a while now for good reason, but this one went to WCW clearly.

  9. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan having more sense than Goldberg by wearing leather jackets to protect them from the glass is hilarious.this series has taught me that Goldberg was nothing but hype and was more green than Nash as the wizard his whole career.

  10. I can't wait for the DNA testing Albert and Trish Stratus promos good God those were the best days of my childhood

  11. That should be a match option in the next WWE game. A HAAS match (Head and A*s Shave)

  12. I don’t appreciate you not calling Steve “muhfugg” Blackman and the “muhfuggin” dojo by their proper name.. put some respect on Muhfuggin Blackman and the Muhfugg dojo 🫡
