You can’t really compare Goff to Stafford.
Stafford played for the Lions when only 2-3 players were trying to win a championship. He constantly played injured, his O-Line didn’t protect him, & every defense played heavy pass coverage because the Lions never had a running game.
Goff is playing for a team where the entire roster & coaching staff wants to win a super bowl. He’s playing great… but IMO Stafford is the most under appreciated QB to ever play in the NFL.
You could also throw a ton of Running Backs in the current Lions roster & they would win more games than Barry Sanders… but that doesn’t mean they’re a better running back than Barry Sanders.
Win a playoff game and the division then ya. Win a superbowl or even nfc championship then theyll be building statues and immortalizing Goff and MCDC in Detroit for time immemorial.
Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, & Matt Stafford’s best seasons will probably be beat this year.
You can’t just write off these legendary players because the Lions finally have a roster where more than 2-3 players are trying to win a superbowl.
Stafford also won a ring with the same roster that Goff couldn’t win with the year before…
Goff will need the Lions to create the best roster they’ve had in 60 + years to even make it to the playoffs.

Stafford never had a competent management team or had a team around him. You absolutely can’t give this teams credit to goff it’s the team.

Goffs our QB, we rocking with him. But objectively, He’s not one of the Elite QBs, that’s fine, we don’t need that. We have an Elite O line, Elite RB room, and depth across our roster. And a Top 3 OC in the NFL. It’s a team thing. And Goff is running the team on the field and our front office is giving him all the tools. Go Lions!

I already knew about Goff. I am a Rams fan and part-time Lions fan. The Rams should of won that Super Bowl in 2018. Sean McVay didn’t make the adjustments and got beat by Belichick. McVay throw Goff under the bus. I wish Lions go all the way to Super Bowl !
I stopped watching the lions for 2 straight years and decided if we didnt trade Stafford id never watch them again. We need a team not a player.But dont get it twisted Stafford by far the best qb we ever had in my lifetime and if he had this team we'd have the same results most likely better… I defended goff feom the time we got him, never once thought he was bad but i always knew Stafford was better no question..with that being said goff has time to prove me wrong and i pray to god he do ..
In Goff I trust. He gets us a division title, and 1 playoff win and the haters will hush.
I was always a Goff supporter. People needed to get the idea of a gun slinger out of their head, and embrace a new QB that had better game management skills.
I like him..but no..he won't be…only becuz he won't be here long enough to become that…this will be his last season here… hopefully!! I've believed in him since he got to Detroit!!! It was a gut feeling from the beginning. And I'll also add, Hendon Hooker is going to be golden for us too. We are in a NEW ERA, not a one off.
If he passes Stafford it's because he's playing on much better team If you compare Stafford at his age on this team Stafford hands down. Goff has it made great oline, above average run game and now the D is solid any QB can play well in this system
Stafford has a lot of arm talent, but that’s not what you’re asking. Goff is going to get us into the playoffs regularly, I see him winning us big games, and I don’t see how you could even argue that he wouldn’t be the best qb the lions have had in, at least 70 years, if he’s able to do those things.
Brad Holmes has put together a team that is built to last and I see that happening.
A single playoff win and he’s the greatest in the modern era.
Speaking of which, I’d almost rather see them have to win a wild card game rather than get a first round bye.

Maybe? He's got a long way to go. A playoff win doesn't do it when the other guy has a Super Bowl ring himself and has career stats as high as #2 all time (yards per game).

That is all BS, if Goff gets injured the Lions are screwed and will be playing like the Jets or worse like the Bears. The lions are an average team, but they have a Qb that is starting to reach his prime, and is making plays when they are needed and is making the right decisions. Offensively there are like 10 to 15 other Teams that are better than the Lions, but there downfall is their Qb, so please start appreciating what Goff is bringing to the Lions….

Yo I’m tired of this nerd polishing Goff’s knob. This dude is benefitting from a luxury 9 never got to experience. A competent front office. Sure Goff is efficient, he’s scared to take chances to make bigger plays. 9 is a gunslinger. He’s gonna make some bonehead decisions trying to make plays trusting his arm more than he should. I was happy to see Stafford leave they should have moved off him 5 years ago. But I think Geoff is just a better fit for the lions hopefully he takes a team friendly deal next contract to be able to keep the momentum going
So a lot of professionals before the week 4 game with Bill's vs Dolphins game were betting Josh Allen MVP at 10/1 for the value. I dont know if he will win but I instead bet Jared Goff at 35/1. He is playing good so far and has a really good team behind him. I looked at their schedule and they play a lot of teams that give up a ton of passing yards. He probably wont get it but I couldnt pass on 35/1 on a team that could have the #1 record.

I haven't heard the show, but our offensive line has been huuuge in the success of our QB. But hes been great! One of my fav players.
Stafford is the better QB I feel but was on worse teams. Geoff will be the teams most winning QB

Goff has proven me wrong. Super happy with his play last year and so far this year. But everything else staying the same (which would be impossible because of the capital they received from the Rams.) 29 year old Stafford would be absolutely frightening with this current team and coaching staff.

Jared Goff is exceeding all expectations given to him after he was traded, but how can we just erase Matt Stafford from our history. Stafford NEVER had a running game and got lit up by defenses year after year. Stafford from '14 -'18 would have been a top 3 QB in the league on this team, and would have won at least one playoff game.
