his reason for not wearing a hat was that it didn't fit, all their gear is made to fit them, gives more credibility to not wearing one in protest. He wears one during regular tournaments why not the Ryder Cup. As captain, whole team stays uniform, we're not individuals.
It's weird with all that he found a cap to wear in the President's Cup. I'm sure whoever manufactured the hats could have found one that could have fit his pea head. If I were captain I wouldn't fit him or Schauffle ever. 100% he wants to be paid. Terrible Captain, Bad Team and Teammates. Sorry Europe. Cup was over after the first day.

So Team Europe had to get one of their hack writer's make up a story to try and start a rift. Pretty low even for the British press and everyone knows how low they can go. Europe players out played the USA team for sure, but this non-story was underhanded.
The most ridicilous excuse is that the hat doesnt fit? LOL They cant make a hat that fits Cantleys big head? They obviously try the outfits before the tournamemts starts. Hats comes in all sizes….How does anyone believe that?
Players should says it’s fine if we don’t get paid. However, if we don’t get paid then it should be broadcasted on free to air TV.
If you want to be paid don't play in the Rider Cup. The money made goes to improve golf.

I was planning to go hatless all week, Cantlay declares. That is your response. He wouldn't have worn it even if a "suitable hat" had been discovered during the event.
Players should get paid, it´s just fair due the huge amount of money the Ryder Cup moves, from tickets, sponsorships and tv rights, just like players in a FIFA World Cup.
But that should not be the main target of a player, representing your country or continent is the most important thing of all.
Cantlay is too greedy, that story about the hat not fitting is bs, I mean, how hard can it be to get him a different size?
