Such an articulate person with great humility as well as a great golfer.
I hope team USA doesnโt overreact and make necessary changes. I do believe that the next captain of the USA should be allowed to pick all 12 of his players hopefully liv and DP will have worked out something where those players can also participate and team USA can get the best team available emphasis on team not friends And the buddy system
Not a golf fan and dont watch the Ryder cup. But my understanding is that players historically dont get paid for the ryder cup. But this is big business now. I dont think the player should get paid but Ryder cup should not be on normal tv not Sky sport's and/ or monies go to charity of the winning teams choosing. That would be a line inder it.

Apples and oranges comparing how Europeans look at payment in the ryder cup compared to Americans.
Europeans know without the Ryder cup to supplement their tour, there may be no tour. But at least all of their money stays in the European tour and goes to European tour players.
The pga of America meanwhile give 20 percent to the pga tour and that money goes to pensions.
But the other 80 goes to the pga of America to use as they like on programs, ceo compensation or whatever.
I know itโs easy to make guys bad guys for bringing this up but imo ensuring the top 12 Americans and euros get a little something for their troubles is good for the future stability of the Ryder cup.
Itโs a no brainier for Luke to keep the captaincy.

For the American team to turn up with a majority of players not having played competitively for 5 weeks prior was nothing short of naive arrogance. Europe won easily due to better preperation, better selections, and far better captaincy that instilled the pride in the team to perform to the standard that they did. In my opinion, the US players looked beaten after the first session. It was refreshing for young rookies to come in and play so well. Another result of Luke Donald's talent as a captain. Garcia, Poulter & Westwood were not missed at all, so European golf is in a good place right now.
Francesco had an absolutely glorious 24 months not so long ago. What a bonus it would be to Europe if he could find some of that form again over the next couple of years. He's not at all past it – look at Rosie. We can always use an older head in the team and if he doesn't make it as a player then certainly as part of the wider set up. If I had my way I'd pick exactly the same captain and vice captains next time. They were calmness personified and we'll need that in the NY bear pit.
Ryder Cup is about pride and more than money. All these millionaires asking is revolting.
Players shouldn't get paid to play on the Ryder Cup team. But if Netflix, Ralph Lauren, BMW, etc are going to come in and use players for promotions or use their images and names for their benefit, then yes, the players should get compensated from that.

If the players ask for money (which most would likely donate anyway, instead of the measly 200 grand they get now for charity), they are greedy, But are totally ok with the PGAT getting a 20% for it's players from the PGA of America and all the suits in the background who are making millions of the RC, and even the supposed money that is going to grassroots and pensions there is no transparency on but are upset the players are asking for a piece of the ever bigger pie. So totally ok with the suits and everyone else making money off the RC, but the stars of the show are the greedy ones. We live in a bizarre world.
