AVP Head Referee Suzanne Lowry had the honor of being the R1 (First Referee) for the Nebraska Cornhuskers match that broke the world record for both volleyball attendance and a women’s sporting event. We caught up with her at the Chicago Open to talk about the moment of a lifetime.

  1. What a great event! In reflection, the only thing that would have topped this over, over, over the top would be presence of Paul Sunderland. Not that Emily Ehman did a bad job, Emily you did great, it would have been complementing the veteran and the upcoming superstar newcomer. Just my thoughts. It probably was some contractual/scheduling issues. But anytime I think of volleyball, it's the class, knowledge, being on the frontier of making volleyball what it is today, having that passion and being a GREAT announcer with super insights! Missed you! And a close second would be Karch Kiraly.
