Single-Life Dad: Pasadena Yacht & Country Club Tournament of Champions Commercial

This year the Annual Tournament of Champions will take place on May 7th and 8th. Tee off is set for the afternoon on both days, weather permitting.

Player Biographies:

1) Dan Dumala – Winter Club Championship winner. He did win this in a spectacular fashion with a clutch up and down on the 18th hole for the win. Dan played golf at Tampa Prep and the University of West Florida. He has not played professional golf. He placed second in Tampa City Amateur. He’s been a member at PYCC for this past year although he was a member in 2017 for a while before moving to Miami for a year. Best round at PYCC is 70 from Black tees. His best handicap is +2. Current handicap 0.4. He is a two-time state individual qualifier. He has made 8 birdies in a single round. Favorite hole at PYCC is #18. His most concerning shot is approach on #4. Favorite club is putter. He has no golf superstitions.

2) Winston Ball: Masters winner. Great win holding off Dan Dumala and Ryan Cockman with a come from behind performance. Winston played AJGA golf and was on Eckerd golf team 2005-7. Top 10 Sunshine conference Championship, 5-time alternate USGA events. Winston has had 1 Hole in One. He’s been a member at PYCC for 3 years, coming over from SPCC. His grandfather, Jack Norrie has been a member for 30 years. Best round at PYCC is 67 from blacks. Best round ever is 66 from tips at SPCC. Best handicap +3.2, current handicap 0.8. He has had 3 eagles in the same round once. Has had 9 birdies in same round twice. He actually likes the tee shots on #4, 6, and 13 at PYCC. His favorite hole is #4. Most concerning shot at PYCC is #4 approach. Favorite club is putter. He plays proV1 and marks his ball with a line over the proV1 mark using it for alignment.

3) Wink Amerman: Summer Club Champion. Wink played amateur golf from an early age through college. He was AJGA All American in High School. 1996 HS Florida State Champion. Attended LSU on full golf scholarship. He has played multiple professional mini-tour events 2000-2008. Qualified and Played in US Amateur, Mid-Amateur, State Amateur, City Amateur events. Best round at PYCC 63 from blue tees. Holds course record at Isla with 61! Has never had a Hole in One. Best handicap +4, current handicap +0.4. Wink has beaten Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, and Lucas Glover in many Junior Golf (AJGA) events. Wink grew up at PYCC and has been a golf member since 1987. He has recently moved into the community with his young family. He has played PYCC for over 30 years. Favorite hole at PYCC is #18. “Hitting second shot into the background of marina. Tucked back right pin there will test your nerves”. His most concerning shots at PYCC are tee shots #16 into the wind and #13. Favorite club is 54-degree wedge. Wink always uses a quarter to mark his ball with the eyes facing hole. Fun facts: Wink won club championship and parking spot at PYCC at age 13. Also, he lost Club championship to Ted Bosen in 1995 on 18th hole as teenager.

4) Ryan Cockman: League Finale Gross Winner. Ryan won the League finale in a spectacular fashion, parring #18 6 times in a row to edge out Mike Puffer in a thrilling sudden death playoff. Ryan starting golfing late at age 18 with a 29 HC but quickly improved and made his way on to the Eckerd College golf team. He then competed professionally in mini-tour events. He is a 4-time St. Petersburg Amateur Champion. Qualified and made cut multiple times at the Gasparilla Amateur event as well as the FSGA mid-Am event. He has won the PYCC Club championship multiple times, back to back Masters tournaments, Summer club championship, and multiple PMA events. His best round at PYCC is a then course record 63 from Blue tees. Ryan also holds course record 63 at Singletree Golf Club. He has had 5 Hole in Ones including PYCC #8, 11, 16 (from blues).
He has eagled 1,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,14,15,16, and 17 at PYCC. Ryan and his family have been PYCC members since 1991. Parents Ed and Macque Cockman have also been long time PYCC members Best handicap +1, current handicap 4.6. He rates his most impressive golf accomplishment as winning the 6 hole playoff against Mike Puffer to win his way into this event. His favorite thing about PYCC is the current trajectory of club and lifelong friendships with great people. Favorite hole at PYCC is #1 “Seems simple enough with no greenside bunkers”. Most concerning shot is #17 tee shot. His favorite club is 8 iron. Ryan uses a coin to mark his ball with the head facing the hole.
