Straight from the Ryder Cup to the home of golf. The DP World Tour returns to the Old Course at St Andrews for the iconic Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The event hosts an individual professional tournament for the world’s leading golfers and the Team Championship in which the professionals are paired with amateur golfers .Ryan Fox returns to defend his title this week after completing an emotional victory last year at the home of golf. He comes into the week on form after finishing 3T at the Horizon Irish Open last month and claimed victory at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth two weeks ago. Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Rasmus Hojgaard and home favourite Robert MacIntyre will all tee up in Scotland fresh from their European Ryder Cup victory against The U.S Team at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. Tommy Fleetwood has been the most successful of the four at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in the past. He’s had six top-tens, including two runner-up finishes, in addition to his Team victory five years ago. Robert MacIntyre will make his fourth consecutive appearance in front of home fans, with a personal best of tied 20th last year. Others to look out for are Nicolas Colsaerts, Thomas Bjørn and Yannik Paul.

I think Europe is thinking big now. They want to win in the US. They can’t just rely on the glory of winning at home. Luke wants to ride this success to something bigger. He will want to create an actual team. Maybe even have them based together, playing together, living together, just like the americans do in Jupiter, Florida. Team Europe will need a base, and maybe Bob doesn’t want to give up his life for this new dream of team Europe, most likely because it obviously won’t be in Scotland.
