The world number one was on the receiving end of a heavy defeat in Saturday morning’s foursomes alongside Brooks Koepka. Europe’s Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg won the match 9&7 to extend their lead at Marco Simone.Hovland and Aberg’s margin of victory was the largest in Ryder Cup history.Scheffler’s miscued shot at the 11th all but sealed the USA’s fate, with Koepka unable to rescue the hole as Europe won the match.The result continued Team USA’s torrid weekend, with the reigning champions winning just one match so far in Rome.
