I may be wrong about this but courtesy cars, probably fancy hotel rooms in Rome, beautiful meals for players, coaches, spouses, and who knows who else for the extended weekend. What other pampering expenses did the Ryder Cup and affiliates pay out. They are so spoiled. They don't think they are being paid?? Greed is really a thing you know.😢
I can see both sides? The PGA of America make so much $$$$$$$$$$$ with the Ryder Cup! However, if Jack and Arnie played without getting payed, Patrick and Xander can too!
PGA Tour should not receive any financial benefit from the Ryder Cup. Any member of the PGA USA could have made it on the team. Only requirement is, you are a member of the PGA USA, but don't have to be a member of the PGA Tour. Jay Monahan, beg for the money from PIF, if you have financial problems or ask the US Senate for subsidies.
From an International Golf Fan’s views – it was a PGA Executive’s team that lost to the European Team this year. To field the top USA team – 3 or 4 LIV players (not only one token player) should have been played to represent a stronger USA field. {The tournament was still entertaining Golf & it showed how the whole World Ranking of Golfers should be done at arm’s length from all the Golf Tours). Likely their Saudi Investors (the real bosses) will straighten out the issues with PGA Executives pretty quickly over the next few years.
Schaufelee and Cantley will be members of team Smash next LIV golf season.
I think that the PGA of America should at least take care of the caddies?
When the Ryder Cup becomes Team Goldman-Sachs vs. Team Blackrock then Cantlay can wear the hat that represents his true allegiance.

I think the USA team are a disgrace the money they earn all year and they are arguing about money to play in a Ryder cup they all get flown there all the hotels are paid for and anything else they need some as in all sports at the moment all they think is money not what the true meaning of too sport is all about

Paid? What does the average PGA Tour pro make? The answer is simple enough: in 2021, the average earnings were $1,485,055…. Paid?
What a joke! These guys will benefit many times over by participating in the Ryder Cup! Endorsement contracts are incredibly lucrative, and, their participation makes them orders of magnitude more marketable “IF” they conduct themselves in a proper way! Bitching about not being paid to represent your country and play in the most prestigious tournament in Golf reflects very poorly on them!
They should be chastised for their greed and arrogance!!!
Yeah, Im not sure what out of pocket expenses the players incurred, all accommodations are paid for by the PGA are they not. I guess they might have to foot the bill for family, but hell its a special event in Italy and you are a millionaire, I think I might be able to swing it if I was lucky enough to make the team. As for the money going to the players retirement fund, well if any of these guys end up losing the ability to play and havent invested smartly to this point, Im pretty sure they'd appreciate the fund. My only issue is why hadnt all this been worked out months ago, doesnt matter what players make it on the team in the end, you can have all this administrative stuff on paper, out to the players months in advance so they can discuss any problems well in advance or they can just not accept an invitation to join the team.
The Ryder Cup is getting blown out of proportion! I watch it cause it’s on but if I have a choice I’ll go play myself! Format is old. All the players are talented so more need to play all the days and only have 2 sit out each session.
They sign up for the Ryder Cup but crucially they don't sign up for this new Netflix documentary – that should be optional and if they do take part then they should surely be paid for that.
I am guessing that is why both players sat in a different room at times.

These jerks are wealthy beyond any comparison to the folks who cheer them on. One week where all of your expenses are covered and you are treated like royalty and you are representing your country is not too much to ask.
ALL 12 CADDIES AND PLAYERS + WIVES GET A MONTH OF PAID EXPENSES….. AS AN LPGA CLASS 1 a MEMBER, NO-ONE IS PAYING THEIR OWN AIR FARE, LOGGING, MEALS, CLOTHING, BAGS, TRANSPORTATION, FOR 36 + MEMBERS OF THE USA TEAM….THE PGA DOES…..
I don't think the players should get paid. the honor of being on the ryder cup team should be enough. but I also think that they have a right to privacy in the locker room, so I understand that they don't want cameras there.
Professional players have the right to sign any agreement as they see fit.. i dont care about nerflix. Just shows you some players have some integrity..even if that is only that they have the right to decide what happens with their image and involvement.. be careful cow towing to any big corporation.. stand up for yourself. It also shows how murky and dirty the tours are in the background. Nothing is as it seems on tv.
Ryder Cup makes MILLIONS but they do buy players cute matching patriotic sweaters! What a deal. I'll bet they get to keep them too.
I get both sides but if you're building a "Team" to represent the PGA-USA then that "Team" should pay for the players travel and hotel expenses. It's been known to the players for quite a long time that they're not getting paid for it but it should also not cost them anything to play in it as well.
The devil will be in the details. Need to see what the Netflix series is like. Not all golfers like being the centre of attention. I would probably have found it distracting and irritating. They already have countless cringeworthy interviews and press conferences to attend
You play for your country, not your wallet. If they expect to be paid, just tell the Ryder cup captain you are not interested in playing if you are not paid. I suspect there are many side issues with the USA team that we are not aware of right now. These side issues show up when Europe kicks their butts. Team USA is just not in it to win it anymore. At least it appears that way.

The Ryder Cup brings more attention to the game than any other tournament. The money in golf for these pros is boosted by the Ryder Cup. And I will guess being a Ryder Cup player commands you more sponsorship money too. These guys are definitely benefitting very significantly financially from the Ryder Cup even without getting paid directly for it. And in seriousness, these guys earn so much money from merely playing golf that they hardly need another few dollars for participating. They should be eager to participate. And not everything is about money. It's supposed to represent an exciting challenge between two rival tours, just like rival matches between amateur golfers. We play for the fun of it. It's not about money
Maybe it's just time to move on.

Share Lowry comes from a GAA family, IRISH people will get it, you play for your parish and if good enough you play for your county…….and guess what America you dont get paid one cent….nothing….and you can see it coming out in Shane and Rory, they play for pride…
I think we all should remember that without Xander and Cantlay playing … the USA would not have been able to say they got their arse handed to them by the Europeans🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
