This is Why Andre Iguodala Told his Son to Shoot like Klay Thompson, Not Stephen Curry

“I was telling him, Shoot like Klay; don’t shoot like Steph.” — Andre Iguodala, Golden State Warriors/@pointforward host.

This week’s Point Forward podcast, co-hosted as always by Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, features a special guest, Andre’s teammate and former MOP of the Final Four, Donte DiVincenzo. In this clip without Donte, Andre discusses Rory McIlroy’s swing, compares it to Klay’s jump shot, and talks about having his son, Andre Jr., model his jumper after Klay’s. (This sound bite is only available on the audio version of the pod. Link at the bottom.)

The Point Forward podcast, hosted by former NBA teammates and current best friends Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, uses basketball as a pretext to honestly and openly talk about business, culture, race, tech, and, yes, sports. Specifically, over the course of weekly hour-long episodes that drop on #pointforwardfriday, Iguodala and Turner, discuss and debate current national and global events in a way that is meant to resonate with everyone from the Silicon Valley elite to teenagers on the south side of Chicago. #pointforwardpodcast #Andreiguodala #goldenstatewarriors #stephencurry #klaythompson #rorymcilroy

  1. And I told my son to be great. Be great like Tom Brady. Don’t be like daddy. Hell nah. Lol

  2. Yo Dre, can you get Klay to break down his form throughout the years from college and how it’s changed through weight training, injuries, age, etc.? Could also be steph or anyone really.

  3. I read a book on Martial Art as a governing concept and lifestyle, and in it he made the most interesting point: all sport and fighting is 3 body movements: thrust forward, shuffle side to side, and torque, so rotating your body in some capacity. You can combine them and do them in different directions, but those are the 3 foundational movements of all sport movements.

  4. I'm telling my son to shoot like steph…. the greatest shooter that has ever done it…

  5. It's because steph can make all type of shots with different forms klay has that same form every shot i hate the way stephshoots now it's not the same and it's like steph shoots to get a foul not saying he does but klay shot is pure and the same

  6. Klay Thompson say to his kid to shoot as Dražen Petrović
