Green Bay Packers mount a comeback in Jordan Love’s Lambeau Field debut; plus Rashan Gary highlights

The Green Bay Packers overcame a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter to complete an improbable comeback against the New Orleans Saints. Jordan Love, in his Lambeau Field debut, didn’t play clean but played inspired, willing the offense in the fourth. And the defense followed Rashan Gary’s hat trick to shut out the Saints in the second half.

Podcast host Kassidy Hill is joined by reporters Tom Silverstein and Ryan Wood to break down the Packers’ highlights, including Love’s day, without Aaron Jones and Christian Watson, plus the best and worst moments on defense. They also take a look at some shifts on special teams and debate when the Packers might get back their injured playmakers.

  1. That run by Love and the pass to Reed absolutely a dime I they just quit comparing him to Rodgers or Farve he's Love nobody else don't need to be either one of them and dude on the right is way to critical on the kid give him time he'll get it together

  2. god it must be a miserable existence being Tom. That dude doesnt look like he's enjoyed a day of his life. Scoop the poop out of your cheerios and get on board you old coot

  3. Glad you guys and gal dressed up nice today and we did not have to see Spoon's legs LOL 🙂

  4. The Al Toon play was one of the greatest plays in Wisconsin Badger history — but remember they had true Astro Turf at Camp Randall at that time, making Randy Wright's "bounce pass" to Toon plausible (it still was incredible, and then Toon's pass was right on the money — can't remember the WR)

  5. putting Nixon on the punt was either for a spark, or my impression is that Reed was getting tired from a lot of routes, including many longer routes.

  6. The pass rush won this game. Gary was in beast mode with 3 sacks.

Plus he knocked Carr out of the game. Once he did the NO offence disappeared.

Jordan Love was money when it counted most. Another building block for this young QB.

Just wait until this man has a run game.

When he can use play action effectively then we will see this fellow shine.

Imagine they did this with 4 studs out of the lineup – Bak, Jaire, Jones and Watson. Devondre left the game early hurt too. Let's also not forget Elton Jenkins was out as well yet another stud. Validating the proof of the depth they have this year!

This team beats the Lions on Thursday everyone will finally stop disrespecting them.

Everyone said they were garbage after Arod left.

But you all seeing the supporting cast is allot better than most people realized.

If they going to win this division its starts Thursday!

Let's just hope some of those studs are able to get back on the field for this game.

If they win this game they will be in 1st by themselves.

With a 2-0 divisional record and the Lions 0-1 in the division.

    GO PACK GO!

  7. The stare down show. Sports section is the only section that isn't obvious agitprop at that yellow rag. Go Pack.

  8. Never, never ever leave points on the table. WTF was MLF thinking not taking the 3 points on 4th & 2? MLF's game management & time outs use really needs to get "cleaned up" (as he says all the time) cause he will lose games. Guaranteed. The team did bail his ass out.

  9. Funny, I was also thinking the performance yesterday reminded me of Favre’s early days. It was gutsy but not perfect but Love did what was required to win. Favre also had accuracy issues with his long ball early in his career.

  10. Used to love following Tom's work, but he's become such a curmudgeon, such a wet rag I can't listen to him anymore. Way to take the joy out of a great, gutsy comeback.

  11. It is quite amazing to me how Tom and many other commentators are so "whatever" as it relates to Love. Everyone has said that Love doesn't have to be "AR" or "BF" like but just be Jordan. Unfortunately, you guys can't seem to move pass the comparisons of him and them. Every time I hear it, it would seem to me that you ARE expecting him to be like AR. Give the young man a chance to perfect what is before him, of which, none of you could do. Also, relative to his accuracy in the deep ball, you may forget that AR and other QBs would have a favorite WR that they would mostly throw to in the heat of battles. Their chemistry would develop over time when QB would calculate the varied speeds of each receiver and who needs a feathering touch, aired, or bullet throw. Jordan is spreading the wealth to all of the receivers, tight ends and running backs of whom have different speeds…. It takes time to realize how much or little needs to be placed on each shot, while also, going through the Coach's playbook… So, since you keep referencing the past….. here's one for all: R-E-L-A-X! GPG

  12. Somebody in the locker room (Doubs?) said that, in the fourth quarter, the team sped up, almost to 2-minute drill pace, and it made me wonder if that's an issue with this team? LaFleur's play-calling is notoriously slow, and i wonder if Love is having a hard time loosening up and playing with confidence during those slow stretches? Isn't there such a thing as over-perfecting a play call, getting in the way of a freer and more improvisational approach?

  13. the Packers not using Dillon right and he isn't running that hard, definitely no second contract for this overdrafted gutey guy
