AWKWARD! Luke Donald comes across BITTER over initial RYDER CUP SELECTION 🫢

Well this is AWKWARD! Luke Donald has offered some thoughts on how he became the European Ryder Cup captain after LIV Golf’s Henrik Stenson was stripped of the role, but it all comes across very bitter to us! We take a closer a look at exactly what Luke Donald has said as well as comments from Henrik Stenson himself. The Ryder cup 2023 is just days away and Luke Donald is hot on the press!

He was named as the skipper to lead Europe in the 44th edition of the contest after Henrik Stenson was removed from the position last July.
Henrik Stenson was stripped of the role because he decided to compete in lucrative LIV Golf events but Luke Donald was asked more about this and what he thought of the situation in an interview yesterday and we have all the details that you need ahead of the Ryder cup.

Team Europe and Team USA are both looking very strong for the 2023 Ryder cup and we can’t wait for it all begin on Friday. If you are wanting to know the latest ryder cup news, ryder cup interviews, ryder cup highlights, ryder cup shots, ryder cup players, ryder cup picks, ryder cup captains, then back9 films is the place to be.

  1. Josh, you are dead wrong. This is continent vs continent. Not tour vs tour. Stenson is European and has every right to be a Ryder Cup Capt. It's rubbish what they did to him

  2. Top Golf is obviously corrupt. What we have seen from the inside of PGA tells us a lot (see the congress hearings.)

  3. Here is another juicy tidbit. There is a good possibility that Stenson might have chosen LIV golfers. To prevent this, you sack Stenson. Im Americam but i would loved to see Garcia and Poulter. This was pure politics and a anti LIV maneuver. Book it 0:03

  4. I personally think choosing the right pairings will make the most difference. Not sure whether Stenson would have made a difference unless he would have picked different people.

  5. Forget all the talk and rumor mills , let's judge him on results. Any former world number one should deserve maximum respect from his players.

  6. The US is favored slightly, that's a reflection of $ not skillset – I personally think the better players and home field advantage goes to team Europe; a loss would be a huge upset and the blame would fall squarely on LD…so I get it if he's a little anxious.

  7. Sam T , Paul McG, Monty, Bernard G to name just a few didn't win a major but all were successful captains. Tripe is what you're talking just to make a video and I've now unsubscribed to your channel

  8. For me it’s not about comparing these two captains as much as how the beautiful leadership system Europe has had may be interrupted.

Don’t forget about Sergio’s role on top of Poulter. Westwood. Stenson.
The answer is definitely stenson would be captain if the established tours handled this new business opportunities like grown ups from the beginning.

There will be a better future. The teams themselves would both absolutely be different if not for the way the tours handled the whole thing. USA had a ton of options but Europe as well, and not just assistant captains, as guys like Chacarra should have gotten attention.

I again am so critical of the tour leadership because they have been not good to many of the best players in the world. They try to act offended by a few criticisms from a few players. Criticisms that time has proven were more than fair. But they don’t realize what damage they have done to so many great players and to golf in general, and this cup will always be remembered for all of that.

There are going to be 24 amazing players and 2 amazing captains and like another 24 great assistant captains in Rome. That being said many of them should not have been there because so many others would have been there instead. And everyone knows that.

    It is a mess.

As sad as that mess is it will still be a fun event, no doubt about that.

But let’s hope things get sorted out soon. The Ryder cup cannot have this uneven playing field. Luckily for the Europeans whom are not at liberty to pick certain players, the Americans are by choice leaving a laundry list of the great talent that gave them an easy win last time, especially DJ and bryson, and many others from LIv and the Tour, like Keegan and Glover (faxon said today he would have picked both of them) for the good ol boi meets paris’ (as in Paris Hilton) BFF strategy.

    Go USA!

  9. Luke Donald went from world number 1 to out of the top 100. Stenson has not to my knowledge been world number 1 but has never dropped out of the top 100. In terms of character, Stenson is the more extrovert and would probably have been the better captain in terms of motivation. Donald is more of an introvert so taking the bull by the horns isn't his comfort zone so for me it isn't the best choice. However the team is very good, picking Justin and Shane makes no sense as there are better players not picked. I still reckon Europe will win though, as the course isn't an all out smashing driver type of course, you got to plot your way around.

  10. Look … “According to James Corrigan of the Telegraph, Stenson received about $50 million to make the move to LIV Golf.”
He’s a grown man .. he knew the consequences and still made the decision to leave.
This incessant whining has to stop. Sorry .. “you can’t have your cake and eat it too”
The European Team is more than capable with the talent it has. PGA and DP golf tours have moved on from the folks that left for LIV.
And this Ryder Cup viewership this weekend will prove it.

  11. This is not a Ryder Cup!! This is a competition between the best PGA players and the best DP Tour players. The Ryder cup is supposed to be best American players and the best UK and European players and its not. The jealousy of the LIV players will destroy the reputation of many PGA and its management

  12. This is the first "political" Ryder cup in my adult lifetime. Not being able to choose European players because they play on a different tour? Its brought the whole event down a bit in prestige when you begin politicking like this. my two cents.
