9 Holes of Golf: Short Game to the Rescue!
Let’s test out some new content for the channel. Today join James for 9 holes around a local academy course, plenty of missed greens and pressure on the short game.
Let me know if this is content you’d like to see more of and we can get going with it. We’d have liked to spend more time talking through things but were being pressed by the groups behind!
Enjoy!

I would like to see you teach a student who hits its 8 iron around 135 meters/yards, hit it 165 meters/yards
Love the format. Nice to see you use your talent!
Shows that your human
Impressive recovery game
Something missing in the YouTube golf world is course management. So many possibilities on the golf course you could make a years worth of content just on that. Great video thanks for sharing.
Great concept. Although I'd love to see the stroke gains stats for this round, and perhaps a little analysis at the end of the round. Do you think that would be possible to do in the future?
Great little vlog. Found you recently via Matt Lockey and have been impressed with your catalogue of content. Personally I enjoy the detailed explanations and demonstration you give. As a Brit, I also appreciate the lack of “whoop whoop” BS seen elsewhere. Keep up the great work 👌
This shows how critical a great short game is… It's the difference between a horrendous score and an ok score. What are you working on in your irons? Is it possible you're weaker short game grip is causing the pushes? I find my new full swing's strong grip requires me to have a weaker grip for my short game..
Enjoyed it James-especially the "real time" aspect
Nice 🙂 if you're looking for an easy channel grower I would imagine a What's in the Bag video would do the trick…they're everywhere! I think you do well to position your channel as a slightly more formal/ data driven channel than a 'fun' channel if that makes sense. It makes your something different from most. I'd stick with it 🙂
That's a journey that I will follow with interest….
I think that was some shrewd play from the tees…how else are you going engage the short game?
As ever, kudos for the first take modus operandi…no Mickey Mouse edits here.
Good video. Club selection info would be nice
Would love to see you give a playing lesson with a higher handicap student. So much to be learned about shot choice, target selection, decision making in the context of lesser ability
Loved this! I'm so glad I found your channel.
Nice content. Please could you give a little more description of the short shots, club selection, lie, carry ratio, elevation, etc
Nice video! Would be great if you walked us through the shot and club selection in the next one.
In fact quite glad to see you miss so many greens so that we can see your short game.
How about a video where no GIR hit at all and u get up and down? Missing the green short vs long, short sided vs non etc.
Loved the video! In the next one would be great to hear you talk through each shot, especially the short-game ones. How do you assess the lie, pick the club, landing spot, etc. Keep up the good work!
I know you’re a magician and already know this, but your short game is filthy
Love this and would love to see more vids like this!
Haven't played it for a while but it's not a bad little course to be fair. Good to see your kids out enjoying themselves as well – best days of your life, they go too fast!
Looking forward to hearing about your journey with the driver James. I've not played for some years with the driver yips and this is my first year back trying to play again. Mixed results so far but the grind continues. Love your short game stuff.
This is real golf, not some excessively edited lesson. Thank you so much!!
I would suggest next time tell us what clubs you are hitting
Love the content James, keep at it!
Imteresting stuff
