Today, Ian and Mikey test the new Beverly Golf Ball. A four-piece premium ball that’s coming in at $69 USD.

  1. I bought them when they were first released Just put of curiosity. My first impression was that they felt firmer, harder off the face than my normal callaway chromosome x ls or titleist prov1x.

  2. Haven’t tried or ever seen the LA ball. Did similar testing a while back trying to figure out what ball I wanted over the course of a year by taking different balls on the course. I tried ProV1, ProV1X, TP5, ZStar, Bridgestone BX and BXS, Vice Pro and Pro+, and Chromesoft and X. After all was said and done, ProV1 was the best for me. It was right in the middle in terms of everything: feel, spin, height, etc. and like Ian/Mike said, 95% of the time, the ball has no quality control issues

  3. I have been playing them all year. I like that the results are similar I just prefer the feel of the LA Golf Ball more. It feels slightly softer than Prov1x.

  4. Was this filmed before whats in Ian’s bag? You had a TSR in that video. Would love to see a yellow LAGP ball

  5. It was interesting to hear you, Ian, talk about used golf balls as there have been some articles by golfspy and robot testing that say its better to buy a premium used ball vs a low budget new ball. Curious to know your take on that a little more.

  6. Please dive into the cheap ball thing. I found that so interesting as I’m sure most high handicappers like me play with a budget golf ball. Interesting to know how it’s hurting my game, around the greens and off the tee

  7. Another winner video.
Why not throw in a Snell (or Vice) and maybe even a Maxfli. Break it down over two days so you aren’t swinging too much.
That would be a great informational video…. Just a thought

  8. 7:30
You guys should put your money where your mouth is!
I think a LostGolfBalls roundup would be a great video!
New ProV vs "Mint" vs "refurbished" vs "4A" vs "3A"

Another great idea would be "Used refurbished ProV1 vs New budget ball"

I used to use 4A used balls, and while generally they performed well, they really lack consistency. Now I use new Srixon Z Star's since they do everything I need, and you can get a decent price when buying in bulk.

  9. To the average golfer, this wouldn't make a difference except leaving less beer money at the course.

  10. Literally just more expensive to be more expensive. Golf equipment is reaching ridiculous heights.

  11. There is a yellow v's white pro v1x video doing the rounds with an 8yd difference, be interested with your data findings.

  12. You should include the putter as part of the test. I'm a mid handicapper, and prefer the feel of the cheap Top Flite Gamer and others to the hard clicky feel of the Titleist Pro V1. Also, LA Golf should have named their ball the 'Rodeo Drive'.

  13. All in all…no justification in the price premium. I’ll take my ProV1 please.

  14. I like to choose a ball at the start of the year and stick to that ball for the year… had a comp where I used a different ball, years ago (PGA, so have to use the same ball all round) and kept flying greens! The ball I was used to at the time was a Nike Vapor, sent the Taylormade TP5 when it was first released over the first 6 greens 🙁

  15. I compared left dash pro v1 x to the La and gave me very similar numbers on irons . I prefer the firmer feeling of left dash over std pro v1x.
Trying the LA ball on course Monday

  16. From a pricing standpoint, it is a complete abomination. A bush league tactic to generate artificial hype for a product that won’t compete with Prov1, Taylor Made, Callaway, Srixon, and Vice balls not now, not ever. Stick to making shafts. 👍

  17. If it has LA, moreover, associated with Los Angeles…it is trash. Much like the city and those that belong to LACC.

  18. You cant come into the market being more expensive than the best ball for the last god knows how many years. Apparently LA golf likes lighting money on fire.

  19. First company to bring out a premium ball for a respectable price ($2) is going to make hundreds of millions.

  20. As a super fan of TXG. I have to say how disappointed I am with how far this new channel has fallen. It is utter garbage that I can longer stomach watching! I have unsubscribed and I feel very sorry for you Ian

  21. The quality control comment at beginning is interesting. I would say you are off with direct to consumer being what you are saying I know trying get the comparison difference of 55 bad balls in a bunch of a 100 but let's be fair that statement is soooo far off. I have played vice balls all year never had one issue with quality and actually these balls have worn better than anything ever for me. The reason I stopped playing Titleist years ago is they got too proud of themselves (to expensive). I then found balls that are better priced and at times compromised a little in the past but know more now I get as good performance. Titleist keep upping their price (always most expensive ball out in stores every year) and why because they know they can because they have people from the past when it was true fooled and blind (loyalists) who listen to all they say and never truly give fair unbiased shots to another brand for what needs to be a full year test. Lastly let us not forget Titleist wasn't first composite ball to market in 1999 to 2000 the brand who start the composite run and who for a time started to look to push Titleist to the side even on tour was Top Flight Strata's. Then Titleist made/copies pushed hard marketing because of money abilities and here we are let loyalists not forget that once Titleist wasn't the ball and money/marketing put them there. So maybe you should look at things not just marketing and softly bashing other brands by there "number one ball on tour" statement like those guys aren't paid to play it.

  22. I won't pay $73 fot the Titleist. I sure as hell won't pay $100 for LA golf either. I'll stick with Srixon that i can get for half price multiple times a year.

  23. I have a GC3 launch monitor. Tested Prov1, Prov1x, Wilson Triad, Bridgestone Tour BXS and BRX, Vice Pro and TM Tour Response with a 3 year old 54 Cleveland wedge (~55 rounds/season) around 73 yd shot. All very similar spin of ~8500 except the Tour response which was 7200 and 3* higher launch. I then tested ProV1 wet and the spin dropped by 4000 rpm. I have since tested with a new Cleveland RTX wedge and gained ~600 rpm of spin but when I went wet, the spin only dropped 600 rpm. Bottom line for me, I need to change my wedges more often and although the balls were similar in wedge spin, I seem to keep the Titleist balls in play more than other balls. Honourable mention to the Wilson Triad though if you want to go budget.

  24. Great video guys. Strange decision to go with that price point from LA Golf. Played the new Mizuno RB Tour X today for the first time and was really impressed. Got 36 for £75 in 3 for 2 offer.
