I do sympathise with Maguire. Some of the outright abuse he received is purely bullying and it’s clear his confidence is completely in the gutter. There’s also no denying that he was once a powerhouse in England’s defence a few years ago and completely earned his place in the squad back then.
However, he needs to leave Man United for the sake of his own career and rebuild his confidence in a team more suited to his style. That way he can try and earn his place back on the England squad rather than keep getting picked out of some misplaced sense of loyalty.
