In Game 5 of the Golden State Warriors – Los Angeles Lakers matchup, we look at the coaching chess match where the Warriors try to pull Anthony Davis away from protecting the paint with ram screens and split cuts.

Co-starring Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green. With Klay Thompson and Gary Payton II. Also with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Jarred Vanderbilt, D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves.

  1. Seeing things like this makes me realize how good the Warriors are and how much of a genius Steve Kerr is. This is why now the the Warriors have been somewhat whole with Klay back, nobody wants to see them in the playoffs. Warriors seem to thrive on having their backs against the wall. Even with them now down 2-3, nobody should count them out. I think the Lakers can take it but I'm not betting on either team.

  2. Brilliant analysis. Everything is choreographed in the nba but what makes it really difficult is every move is contested, where basketball IQ combined with skills and consistency are requisites.

  3. Makes sense. So draw out the bigs on a high screen roll to get the pass underneath. Does Klay have the memo because he is going to pull from deep instead which will work in the Lakers favor. Gotta draw out the bigs underneath. Hopefully get a few in the paint calls if they don’t fall for it

  4. Great, now I’ve got to ask Wiggins (with a broken rib), to ram screen. Bummer.

  5. Cat curling! If they showed that on ESPN, i would be an instant fan!

Those darned Canadians have all the fun.
