  1. I’ve never considered trying to hit a ball with my eyes closed. But I can see how this can help you to focus on delivering the ball to the picture in a balanced way. I’ll give this a try! Thanks again for another great training tip! Cheers!

  2. Always a great video, information and instructions , I want to Thank you Sav &Moo for helping me learn the game which we all love and to think as a kid I hated cutting grass 😂

  3. I believe George Knudson shot 67 at Glen Abby with his eyes closed. “You’ve got to give up control to gain control”. George Knudson explains in his great book The Natural Golf Swing.
Thank you for posting the video. I always enjoy your instruction.

  4. It's amazing how much awareness of your action you have when hitting balls with your eyes closed.

  5. I enjoy basket ball shots eyes closed. 25 years ago I had a 10:30 p.m. golf lesson and fell asleep while I kept hitting drives. She tried the balls and said ready, then said good shot. I could hear but was asleep. I knew exactly where the target was and swung for it. Never missed a shot asleep too tired from work.

  6. I'm afraid your channel has one major shortcoming Shawn. It teaches people to actually play golf so all your subscribers are out playing and enjoying the game of golf instead of being here looking for tips or tricks. 🤣

  7. Shawn,
I have tried this before with a friend attempting to learn not to default to the ball. The swing was fluid and contact flush with good direction. So much so that I thought about playing this way. I just have so much trouble swinging into my picture. I remember in one you recommended picking a height for the ball flight this does help.

  8. Such a great drill. I have my students do this drill to keep from defaulting to the ball and it is fun when you get the feel

  9. I've done this exercise a lot when I was in my twenties and could hit the ball very successfully. Once when I was explaining the golf swing to a friend who was a very exceptional athlete and I was talking about how important having a consistent center is, I spontaneously closed my eyes and swung without warning at the ball in front of me with a 3-wood and hit the ball so perfectly, straight and LONG, that he looked at me like I was a Shaolin Monk or something like that. We do lose some of that kinesthetic perception as we get older so kudos Shawn for managing that very well (and obviously Mu did excellently). It's definitely useful for feeling how the force builds in your swing and how to center and time the release which we are often relying solely on our eyes to accomplish. Cheers.

  10. Know what's great about this drill? I have trouble seeing the ball when I hit it anyway. Especially into the sun.

I had the benefit of TopTracer at the range, so I tried a few eyes-closed shots. Didn't have a bad strike on any of them. I was admittedly missing right the whole session, but I didn't top, thin or fat anything.

  11. Shawn, I have a question – I went through my first club fitting and it sent super well. However, I hit most my shots closer to the heal. I never realized I did this. Do you have any drills to help with this? Thanks for another great video!

  12. This is it!! Hitting AT the ball is just waiting for disaster , I’ve been making eyes closed swings for years (never really knew why lol) but it helps me get all the feelings of “throwing or sending the club to the target” almost immediately . Also amazing to help with balance also!! As always just a pure GOLD video!!

  13. After my usual winter break from the golf, I’m really struggling topping & hitting it thin: general poor contact, tbh. It’s a new phenomenon, and I’ve never really struggled with it in the past. Some people have said my ball position is too far forward – would that make sense to you, Shawn? Big fan of your stuff.

  14. Fantastic Mr. Shawn. Discovery of self in the golf swing. Amazing. You have also dealt with blanking. Being conscious while in action, is the next level. It is transcendental.
