  1. Gallagher's contract aged terribly from day 1. If he ends up on LITR itll basically save the Habs cap structure.

  2. I think he could resurge to a 20-ish goal season, but that’s still being optimistic. I don’t mind riding out his contract as long as things don’t get worse for him from here.

  3. why would you use Lucic as a contract comparable when the price contract would hit the scab fans so much closer to home, I mean seriously what is it, 52.5 million dollars at the end of his contract and he played 5 games and has a 20% win record, that single win cost 52.5 million!!! If you want to go further, the totality of his $84 million dollar contract he only played 154 games, that's paying him $545,454.54 per game he appeared in, and with a win percentage of 48.7% and each win was worth $1,120,000.00, can you even imagine!!!! Enjoy your duck hunts carey bring galley with you next time, can help herd the sheep

  4. Guy deserves it for speaking the way he did about Stutzle and pushing a narrative that was untrue. I'm glad he's screwing his team and no one wants his contract. Maybe he should go back to diving, try and draw a few more penalties.

  5. Gardons le le plus longtemps possible. Et après on le rachete. Comme ça. Le moins de temps possible à avoir son impact sur la masse

  6. like the content, the click bait titles are low brow dude, you dont need to do that, it's getting old man.

  7. Won't matter. Kent Hughes may/will spare money elsewhere the next 2 years on Savard, Armia, Dvorak, Evans, Monahan, Allen and a couple smaller contracts even like Wideman, Ylönen, Pezzeta etc.
By the time it could bite the CAP will alreday have been raised, the core groups all secured in the Caufield ballpark. And with more ELCs to add than massive extensions.

  8. Were gonna see. This year is his big year. If gally does bad again. Were gonna buy him out next off sesson for sure. If he does good. Which i think he will get that 30 goal season again.

  9. Im a long time Habs fan and LOVED Gallagher's game, except for the past couple years. He played like a hungry and pissed off Lion for most of his career and I wanted him as our Captain after Weber,s tenure. The harsh yet sad reality in 2023, is that Galley's best days are clearly behind him. Too many injuries and not enough other talented players around him, have seen his production drop significantly. With the Habs re-build nearing completion, there soon won't be a spot on the roster for him. Bergy needs to take most of the responsibility for signing him to this now "bad contract."Me thinks #11 has to have a BIG turnaround this season to avoid a trade or contract dump, although Im not sure what team can swallow even 50% of his contract on a player who has only played a complete season 4 times in his 11 years in the NHL.

  10. You nailed it on some key points:
    1. Gally has had his share of injuries and what terrible timing for these injuries too at his age.
    2. He's aged and lost a step for sure.
    3. Here, IMHO, is a HUGE key factor in his decline…..the trade of Danault & Tatar!!!! Remember a few years back when the Danault-Gally-Tatar line was one of the top 5-on-5 lines in the NHL???? If not the top line!!!! That line was absolutely amazing. Then…..injuries…..Danault traded….Tatar traded….and poor Gally has seemed totally off his game ever since.
Bergy rewarded him for his production and his great team 1st attitude. He was, as you said, the heart & soul of the Habs and a shoe in to wear the "C" and then BAM!!!!! It's as though he fell off the face of the earth!!!!!
Gally deserves a better end to his NHL story and I hope like hell he comes out and scores 20-30 G and proves all the naysayers wrong
Oh….lastly…my pipe dream this season was….I was hoping Hughes might be able to bring Tatar back on a "team-friendly" contract and pair him with Gally and another centre and see if some magic might be resurrected…😁

  11. Gally is worth 2 mill per season maximum!!! He’s wayyy overpaid! I’d keep Anderson over him any day! At least he can skate lol! And put up 20 goals at 5.5 mil! Gally had what? 6 or 8 goals being paid 6.5?? What a joke! His work effort was always there but why people think the young players need to look up to his attitude, I’m not sure! His reputation is brutal around the league and with the refs! He’s mouthy and refs turn a blind eye on him when he cries! We do not need our future young players acting this way! Shit your mouth and play the game! Like they say actions speak louder than words!

  12. It’s a bad contract, but let’s say it how it is Montreal all things considered are not that close to being playoff ready, there at least 3 years away, minimum, Toronto Florida Tampa are still top tier teams, and will be for at least 3 more years, likely more, Ottawa is pushing for a playoff spot and may get it this season, Boston is till gonna be alright buffalo is on the ups Detroit like Montreal is still behind all those teams, yea on paper Gallagher contract is brutal, but by the time Montreal is starting to be on the ups and making pushes for the playoffs his contract may be off the books so I don’t think it’s really a point of conversation at all

  13. Isn't an issue. Once the Habs are ready to compete, he is a prime candidate for LTIR. Till then, he can help usher in the younger generation and show them what they need to do to be a pro.

But he's also a prime example of why you don't sign players to long term deals into their 30s. It isn't worth it. If a player is still productive at that age, there is nothing wrong with extending him then.

  14. Gallagher is garbage. He had a FEW decent years and Habs fans called him a "star"….😂. As if. What an injury prone Bum

  15. Coming from a leAfs fan, gally is a good team guy,, injuries hurt him, watch when he comes back healthy

  16. Overreacting. It's going to be waaaaaay ok. 6mil in 4 years will be a joke. Even if it's dead cap AND you can't LTIR him. Habs not competitive this year, and shouldn't, unless a literal miracle, be a cup contender in two years. By the time they'll be ready, he'll have a year or two left on his contract. The core will all still be signed for 3+ years by that time.. absolutely no issue

  17. Moving Gally gonna cost prospect and draft pick , I'm happy with everything mr Hughes done so far Gally is the hardest contract to move , will see .

  18. Gallagher is going to have a bounce back season. Book it! Maybe he gets traded at the deadline or he doesn't. As long as he gets 50+ points he is fine. I think he can do it. He says he is 100% healthy so we shall see.

  19. His salary is this season 8.000.000,00 and next season 9.000.000,00 !!!!!! Cap hit is 6.500.000,00 next 4 years. His aging goes financially pretty well. He's laughing his ass of. But of course he want to play well. He gave his hart and soul for the club and us all. Too bad we had Bergevin…..

  20. So, why are you ragging on him? He got a good contract for himself after multiple good seasons. If he continued the production he had, the contract would be fine. He still works hard and gives his best effort every chance he gets. The contract didn't work out due to externalities. That's not Gally's fault. The contract is more on Bergevin, but again, if Gally continued to put up 25 goals and 25 assists per season, no one complains.

  21. Gallagher definitely isn’t the same player, but I think it’s not too big a deal. The Habs have a few players prob getting paid more than they should like Gallagher, Anderson, Armia, and Dvorak. But the young guys they are gonna pay haven’t shown enough to demand big contracts, the cap is going up, and guys like Armia and Dvorak are gone before Guhle and Slafkovsky need new deals. Gally’s contract hurts, but it’s not like Xhekaj or anybody is getting 8×8.

  22. Gallagher is like a modern day Rudy. But even Rudy only had a small glimmer of time in the spotlight. If his contract was 2M less it could be digestible for the full term. But it won’t be for the last 2 years especially. Hopefully Gally can play around 60 games this year and get 35 points. Maybe Kent can sell him as is for nothing. But if Calgary gave us this years 1st for a younger cheap contact Sean Monahan; then damn it proves how detrimental these injured overpaid players can be for a GM. Kent knows what he is doing, it’s pretty impressive. Habs will be really competitive in 2 years, that is especially why he can’t keep Gally for the full term. I got nothing but love for Gally and what he brings to the team.

  23. I just don't understand all these youtube guys acting like Gallagher is some massive anchor on the team. The situation just isn't as dramatic as these guys make it seem, and either way, Gallagher is a good guy to have in the locker room.

  24. To be honest he was never good in playoff, never understood Begevin giving 6.5.

  25. Imagine naming your channel Johnny Hawkey, being a flames fans and judging long term contracts.

    ☠️☠️☠️

  26. seems like a buyout or just LTIR candidate if im the Habs im not worried about it rn cause you dont need to make calls to know yoir giving up a 1st or more to dump that contract

  27. This is why it's always amazing to me when players, in any pro sport, can string together long, successful careers. The slightest thing can derail a really promising career – injury, bad coach/teammate situation, marriage gone south, substance abuse, death of a loved one, loss of confidence.

I really am impressed so many players can string together 8-10-12 year careers, especially in contact sports.
