SUNRISE, FL — Boston Bruins fourth-line winger Garnet Hathaway responded to a cheap shot delivered by Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk after time expired in the first period of Game 4 on Sunday.
Tkachuk elivered a cross-check that sent the defenseless Hathaway down in a heap. The hit, which earned Tkachuk a minor penalty and allowed the Bruins to score a power-play goal to start the next period.
“It was a cross-check to the back,” Hathaway told reporters. “Most guys who play don’t have a ton of padding back there. Vulnerable spot. So, I’m going to be adding a lot more padding to my gear.”

I loved how he smiled when asked about the fans. That was great. It shows that Hathaway appreciates the fans. So glad he's a Bruins.

Man. I am blown away by how well the addition of Hathaway, Orlov and Bertuzzi has gone. All three are kicking ass and adding huge value. I love our team.
