Was Steve Nash the best offensive player of his generation? | Offense Legends Ep 4.

How good was Steve Nash at his best? Can the best offensive player in the league really average just 16 points a game? What changed in 2005 to win MVP, and and why didn’t he have more success in Dallas next to Dirk Nowitkzi?

This episode is part of the the second season of the “Greatest Peaks” series. Season 2 focuses on the legends of NBA offense, examining unique archetypes, controversial players and stylistic spearheads who have influenced the game over the years.

  1. I'm a major Steph Curry stan, so it's awesome to watch this Nash retrospective & see what he brought when coaching Curry: the emphasis on tight handles, the probing of defenses, the shooting/passing/driving triple-threat. Nash was ahead of his time, and deserves his flowers.

  2. As great as Stephen Nash was on offense There was ALWAYS A TEAM who either had a defense to stop his teams offense or a offense that topped his teams offense. EVERY YEAR !!! Lol Great video

  3. Nash is one of those guys who nowadays the analytics guys on his team would be telling him to shoot WAY more 3s with his percentages being so high on already moderate volume (and for good reason too). One of those players who I would be so interested in seeing how they fit in today's game; along with Pistol Pete, Drazen Petrovic, and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf

  4. Steve Nash lying flat on his back from the bench when he wasn't playing is one of my most endearing memories of him

  5. This focus on dunking in the NBA is becoming so ridiculous….not talking about Steve.

  6. The Steve Nash hate is just comical to me. The guy was just on a different level at PG and really ushered in the style of basketball you see today. And the people that cry about his 2 MVPs always just bring up how he wasn't scoring 28+ ppg. He didn't HAVE to! He made everyone on his team a better player! Thus, he was the most VALUABLE player! When did whoever scores the most become the factor everyone talks about with MVP? If you score the most you win the scoring title not MVP.

  7. theres so much i can say about steve nash! i HATE how casuals look at the career stats and DISRESPECT this man. So many so-called "basketball fans" say he robbed shaq of MVPS… FALSE. this man was a WARRIOR. Steve Nash along with Dantoni was just as transformative to the game as STEPHEN CURRY.. FACTS. The ONLY thing you missed in this video is Steve had a quick scoop layup that was absolutely UNGAURDABLE.. he'd get it up on the glass so quick bigs couldnt get to it in time or they would have to goaltend. He was the first person i saw do that layup CONSISTENTLY. Hope you do videos on Chauncey BIllups and TONY parker.. both are CRIMINALLY underated PGS of the 2000s

  8. Amare and Marion were the PERECT teammates for steve because he was gonna find them boys and they both could FLY. J rich too but at that point he was shooting threes. Amare is another player that doesnt get the respect he deserves. when he added that mid range jump shot to his game it got REAL spooky.

  9. in the video you said you don't know any pocket passers better than steve.. i would say there's only one other player i've seen that proficient at the pocket pass and thats JAMES HARDEN.. idk if he does it with his off hand like steve did.. but I've seen Harden thread that needle beautifully so many times.

  10. and this man Steve nash DID NOT MISS FREE THROWS!!! and i have to say those suns/spurs playoff battles were absolutely legendary. I love the part where you said that switches with tim duncan and steve nash was an omen to where the league was heading!!! YES!!! couldnt agree more this is why i say steve nash was just as transformative to the game as steph curry. that transitiion pull up three??? i mean cmon.. that was a bad shot until steve nash !!!

  11. If you go by impact on the floor, Nash was already among the best offensive players of all time when he played for Dallas. Mark Cuban just was too much on a dunderhead to see it. His Mavericks were number one in the league on offense his last three seasons with Dallas and they fell to 4th the year after he left.

  12. I’m praying that one episode is about dirk. My favorite all time player and someone who absolutely dominated with an offensive minded game. I mean his streak of 50 plus wins and his championship postseason performance speaks for its self

  13. Love this video! Nash's brilliance, skill, and accomplishments deserve to be talked about way more often. It's popular for people to talk trash about him now but he was absolutely dominating the league in his prime Suns years in a way no one else really has, or could.

  14. For his ERA he was amazing but modern NBA is so advanced. The players have evolved and now you have centers doing what Nash was doing. That is why Bird/nash and any other old ERA nba legend would never make it in this day.

  15. If youre making a specific repeat of your Greatest Peaks series, the LEAST YOU CAN DO is make a more compelling intro that isnt recycled from the first series AND includes the players you plan to cover in this series!!!! Seriously!! It makes it all so much more compelling to watch!

  16. No. Not gonna watch the video or even click out of the ad before the video. Just came to say no and dip. Thanks for the horrible video idea💀
