Has golf become too political lately?
Great show once again. Yes, golf has become too political. I seriously doubt that Brooks would be on the team had he not won the PGA. If he had finished 2nd (like he did at the Masters), he wouldn't be on Team USA. With Tiger, Love III and Couples (all LIV haters) in Zach's ear, I'm sure they tried hard to not pick Brooks…much less Gooch, Bryson, DJ, or Reed (all of whom played as well or better than some of the other Team USA members. Just my two cents. Ryder Cup used to be my second favorite golf to watch, but this time I'll probably watch some of it, but like y'all said…lukewarm at best. Sad.
Yes, golf has become too political and so polarized because of the whole LIV vs. PGA story. Totally agree with @tdevdad! Once again you pick JT over Keegan (my heart also goes out to him as he SOOOO deserved to make it this year) because TV numbers will be higher with JT there so that means sponsors will pay more money for a 30 second spot 🙂 – just sayin' – I too wish this was done on talent alone with only 2 captains picks – then who really cares who those picks are as you can have a pool as to which buddies they will pick!! 🙂 – BTW what about Lowry and Hatton – that could be combustible in that environment – would ♥ to see that matchup.
Bottom line is for most of us Golf is an escape from the crap going on in the real world and now it mimics the crap and BS of the real world – the LIV PGA thing is not behind us as it has left an ugly wake that will linger for quite some time. Now I am done,
