Vanderbilt Baseball and Xavier Baseball played an elimination game in the Nashville Regional in the 2023 College Baseball Postseason. The winner would advance to play Oregon in the regional final, needing 2 wins to advance.

I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

Regardless of that call on the HBP it’s really hard to not lose a game thru 9 if you only score 1 run. Especially at regionals. It’s easy to point the finger at that call but the game was really lost for vandy in the box
