Hover the Club – John Hughes Golf

Jack Nicklaus did it the best, hovering his golf club before making a swing. His reasoning was to not make the ball move. But we now know hovering the club reduces tension, keeps you in constant motion, and allows you to react to the ball.

Within this video, PGA Master Professional of Instruction and the 2023 North Florida PGA Section Teacher/Coach of the Year, John Hughes, shows you how hovering your golf club can do the same for you. Staged at the 2nd hole of Falcon’s Fire Golf Club, this video features the driver, a club that you can easily hover.

But the same principles apply to all clubs. Keeping your “Waggle” moving before creating your back swing is a great way to start any swing. Give it a try. Odds are your missed shots get that much better.
