‘Don’t see too many issues with it!’ | Australia coach McDonald on Bairstow run out and the fall out

Australia coach Andrew McDonald has defended his side’s dismissal of Jonny Bairstow in the 43-run win against hosts England in the second Ashes Test at Lords on Sunday.

McDonald said ” I don’t see too many issues with it” when asked if he thought the Bairstow dismissal was controversial.

The Australia coach added captain Pat Cummins had noticed Bairstow’s tendency to leave his crease and had alerted his players.

The dismissal, however, did not please the Lords crowd, including some members sat at the Long Room of the prestigious London club. Some members were seen heckling the Australian players when they returned to their change rooms.

The third Ashes Test will be played at Headingley in Leeds starting Thursday.

  1. Of course he's gonna say that. The Australian board encouraged Smith et al to sandpaper the face of a ball in a match a few years ago. This is just meat and drink to those guys.

  2. 1st Test…""Remember 2005, that's all you have to do," Kevin Pietersen on commentary.

2nd Test… "Australia will be remembering Headingly 2019" Michael Atherton.

""I think we are wining the Ashes," WTC 2023.😆

  3. If England was all about the 'spirit of the game', Ben Duckett would have stood back & allowed himself to be clean bowled the ball after he was legitimately caught by Mitchell Starc. Consequently, the match would have been won by Australia over 100 runs earlier

  4. You either have integrity or you don't this Australian team doesn't, some in the past did most in recent history haven't and some Australians know what I say is true. I know that Richie Benaud and Keith Miller would never support that decision because they were men of integrity unlike the moral pygmies that currently represent this Australian team. your actions will be remembered long after the result of this series is long forgotten it will be mentioned in the same category of underarm bowling, you never learn .

  5. English captain Paul Collingwood against NZ was asked by umpire Mark Benson if he would reverse an out decision against NZ’s Grant Elliot. He replied no. The English bowler Ryan Sidebottom blocked Bensons path getting to the crease (possibly accidentally?) and the delay caused Elliot to be run out. So much for the spirit of cricket. As to cheating… English player Moeen Ali fined for ball tampering in the VERY FIRST TEST of THIS TEST SERIES!!! Australia suspended their best 3 players for doing the same, including the then top batsman in the world (he maybe still is?). Remember English Captain Michael Atherton ball tampering in 1994 etc etc etc. There are many English examples of “cheating”… like “lolly-gate” for example…. and today they are “the pot calling the kettle black”. The real issue in this 2nd Test for the English is that they lost the match.

  6. England are the biggest whingers ever because their brand of cricket 🏏 being dumball not smartball is not working and they have been found out big time being brutally honest DUMBALL 0 SMARTBALL 5

  7. aus r just looking to win no matter what, not thinking what the world will say about how they r behaving. steve smith, warner should hv stopped pat cummins and should hv done the right thing. what r u doing, aussies. u want to get booed everywhere?
