I'm old enough to remember the DDT being a career ender in some cases. Proper to the likes of Gangrel, Edge and Andrade for trying to tweak it and keep it as a finisher at various points. I like the fact that it's quick and you can do it to anyone regardless of size; that's what separates a good finisher from a great one.
Nobody ever did it as awesome as Jake. Just perfectly executed. The DDT will forever be known as Jakes.

I liked Roberts. I liked his character but frankly I am scared of snakes. Diamond cutter, DDT, stunner all cool moves in a similar mold.

Jake’s timing is off DDT was banned in the USA in 1972. The first issue of USA Today was 1982. Unless he had Doc Brown’s DeLorean …

I think Randy Savage's Flying Elbow is the best finishing move ever executed, while Jake's DDT is a close 2nd place. Still though, respect to Jake Roberts
It's not devastating anymore. Now wrestlers give and receive DDTs 5 times in a match. It's a set-up move now. jk

The DDT is definitely one of the greatest finishers ever, so believable. And no one executed it like Jake. It's a shame it's used as just a regular move today.

I remember being told as a kid that the name meant “Damien’s Death Trap” in reference to his snake Damien.
Yes just about every wrestler uses the DDT. But Jake the Snake Roberts was the master of it. I think if you watch the way he did it and compare it to how other wrestlers did/do, one would see that Jake did it with this quick snap in a split second which made it so effective as a finisher. If I’m not mistaken, the move was used before but not as a finisher.
Jake's DDT is like early days' RKO. Outta nowhere with huge impacts.

I think the ddt is one of those moves that transcends the wrestling business. There’s not many I mean the stunner and the rko are some but only a handful I can think of.
an insecticide that had to be banned because it had a hazardous impact on the environment and Jake decided this to be the name of his finisher, he's a genius and a poet in wrestling.
The DDT is kind of like Orton's RKO in the sense that it can come out of no where. Jake's version of it was definitely the best. But I also have a soft spot for the Rock's DDT.

I love how the DDT is now a legendary move but it was all because of either pure chance or an accident. Both the actual move and the name 🤣
Jake's DDT and Buzz Sawyer's power slam are two of my favorite finishers.
