Max Homas HEATED EXCHANGE with FAN was the FINAL STRAW FOR GOLF ETIQUETTE…

Pro Max Homa heard worrisome words from a fan and this has put the nail in the coffin for golf etiquette! Golf Course Etiquette is not just for new golfers, believe me!! GOLF ETIQUETTE can be really confusing for GOLFING BEGINNERS… and clearly golf fans watching golf major tournaments don’t understand this either. We saw a number of problems with golf etiquette at the open, the masters, the us open and more.

Max Homa putted on the 17th hole at Olympia Fields but there was a ALTERCATION with FAN who was shouting at the putting green!
Max Homa lit up a fan standing near the 17th green at Olympia Fields Country Club on Saturday afternoon. Max Homa Interrupted by fan who bet $3 on him at BMW Championship. Pro golfer Max Homa got into a heated exchange with a fan over a $3 bet and a putt

  1. What have you noticed at your golf club?! Is it dying or are some of the good traditions staying?

  2. Who sells the tickets , who sells the beer, who goes to the course to party in the high priced tents, and who is in bed with the main stream broadcast networks! You wanted all these people with more attention ! Well you got what you wanted so stop whining.

  3. We have “broadened” our dress code. It does have an effect on behavior. I had suggested that they stock a cheap, $10.00 polo shirt in mens and women’s styles and colors that they can sell the improperly dressed guest. We already allow clean jeans. First, it forces the Proshop to judge whether a tee shirt design is offensive. We have a sign as you enter, but I doubt anyone reads it.

The yelling is trash talk. Spectators have changed into a tiger woods/ happy Gilmore crowd who know their yells effect the play, but don’t care.

Also, with the new crowds, yelling “fore” is wrong. Everybody looks up except golfers who cover their head. We need a new yell or alert, “duck”, or something that directs spectators to act swiftly.

I’m not against it, just amazed that so many courses think cheapening the game is the way forward. I’d rather educate, bring the spectators into a better understanding of golf. Not the etiquette, rather a deeper appreciation for the toughness and diversity of the game.

We have a Marshall on course, I expect we will need a dress and code Marshall in the future. It actually helps everyone enjoy the game. Not strict, not oppressive, but lifting up expectations and enjoyment for everyone.

  4. You guys want all this let’s get every loser to play the game and wear a hoodie and then worry about their lack of etiquette. Not every white trash dbag belongs on the course.

  5. My feeling is that, at a golf tournament, there should be zero tolerance for any shouting out in a loud disruptive manner. Loud outbursts impact everyone around that person, not just players.

  6. What I don’t like is all these assholes coming onto the course with their stupid speaker boxes and loudly playing music. I have never played golf with music, because golf isn’t meant to be played with music. Whatever, do your thing but if your gonna do it, turn your shit down when playing around someone else or at least ask someone if your music is ok or not. Do you agree? Music and slow play on the course IS a problem!

  7. Its tough because it’s difficult to stop an individual, but its in poor taste to try to affect the outcome if your at a live golf event. It’s not Football. It’s not the same dynamic.

  8. It’s amazing anything that’s wrong with golf is somehow LIV golf fault. The PGA and its fans, up until LIV golf, was is perfect …

  9. Worst rule for us at my old club was that men couldn’t wear shorts unless u pulled your socks up to your knees. And then the shorts had to be just above your knees. This is was at a zen private club back in Sydney. Don’t know if they’ve moved with the times since I left

  10. Etiquette on the golf course at my club…ha ha gone out the window…and not just from the young…was about to tee off 1st tee a couple of days ago and three guys from the group behind us were having a great old chat behind me…I said..do you guys mind if I have a shot while your chatting?..comments made me the villain..how dare I interrupt them.

  11. I'm an avid golfer I play 5 to 7 times a week I'm an 8 index and I never understood why you have to be silent when someone is hitting. A baseball player batting or a pitcher can still do their thing with thousands cheering. Same goes for a basketball or football player or soccer. I never understood that, when I play my guys know they don't have to stop talking. I still beat the crap out of them It does nothing to my swing.

  12. This crosses the line when fans try to exert influence on players’ performance. Its disgusting.
If betting is to blame, phones should be banned on the grounds like at Augusta at every event.
If its that fans are just becoming a-holes, the tone needs to be set by media, grounds staff, etc. so these morons understand what is and isn’t acceptable.

  13. Regardless of the sport, I'm all for spectators encouraging and cheering their teams/players and the occasional boos when players do something against the rules or the like but any form of abuse or derogatory comments being yelled out needs to be stomped on. They need to be ejected from the venue.

No sportsperson needs to be impacted by that sort of rubbish.

We need to encourage/enforce sportsmanship not only by the players, but by the fans and spectators as well with appropriate punishments applied when bad behavior is exhibited.

  14. Golf educate has definitely changed for the worse. There are a lot of new players since The Covid shutdown. The problem is these people have no idea about golf educate and don’t care. If the courses don’t start giving classes on educate and enforcing it golf will not be the relaxing fun game it can be. Basic rules and educate must be taught.

  15. People understand what they are doing, if you shout “pull it” hoping he misses while the man is taking a shot. It was used as a distraction in hopes to startle or interfere with the shot. I see people doing it out of spite. There is no such thing as being polite anymore

  16. It’s society in general, there’s no accountability anymore, do whatever you want act a fool mommy and daddy will swoop in and save you.

  17. Price of your ticket: you will nothing to disrupt a players game, at the discretion of the marshal/security. Put more security on the greens watching the crowd (and not the game), and start tossing people of the course.

  18. Cannot stand those "Happy Gilmore" a-holes who scream out, almost at the same time that someone is hitting the ball. Every one of them should be kicked off the course… (Love the movie, but please, not on the course)

  19. Maybe the price of a ticket should be more expensive. Then that would keep some of the idots away.
