  1. I'm excited about a lot of the benefits you mentioned. The cassette ratios and better clutch in particular. I'm bummed about a lot of aspects. The price is insane on some of the parts. The cranks gained a lot of weight AND cost. The fact that you basically have to buy into the whole system in one go rather than piecing it together over time is pretty tough if you want to upgrade an existing bike. 2 of my 2022 bikes don't run UDH and based upon the dropouts/features I don't see anyone updating them to accept UDH. I'd still like to keep my old cranks with a new chainring and that's not an option. I'd like to run a cable and that's not an option. I was really hoping to see a new clutch but the bikes I would benefit most from a new clutch don't have UDH…

There is a patent out for a cable mech version, I'm sure the industry will make adapting chainrings, so over time I'm hoping my disappointment will change as things trickle down. I'm excited for the long term, but not excited today.

  2. I think that many of the AXS features (direct mount, pivoting derailleur, reduced adjustments) could also be engineered into the mechanical (cable) derailleur and improve it also. I'll be hoping because I'm not into electronic drivetrains.

  3. sick! I've heard good reviews on the new sram tranny. hope it works out. great vid man, the "my first torque wrench" comment cracked me up. I dig your non-analretentive more chilled approach to tech-talk stuff. I just reset a derailleur the other day and the whole time I was wishing I had this, lol

  4. Wait what about being a non-sponsored or influenced channel…

Still feel that direct mount is bad for the frame on hits

  5. I'm interested in this setup for my Levo. It looks like they have an EMTB version. I've been waiting on Shimano Linkglide which is vaporware at this point in the US anyway. I watched some videos of the new Eagle EMTB and it looks like a real evolution, but I want to see some guys put it through the paces and see how it holds up on ebikes before I drop big $$$ on it.

  6. Lucky! Totally agree with you on your points with the original AXS. And I wonder how the new stuff will compare to shimano's hyperglide+.

  7. Hey Dustin, quick question, what do you think regarding the cost/benefit to this system? I'm having a hard time finding a compelling reason to spend the cash to go from a cabled GX setup using a Garbaruk cassette. Is the shifting performance that much of a game changer? Thanks for the good videos!

  8. Well we talked about how they could solve the chain slap situation with money. Had to come up with a new standard to do it but seems like the battery location should cut down on issues. I’ll be interested to see how it performs long term.

Bold move just leaving existing upgrade base off the table from their market. Both my bikes are from the teens so no UDH.

Don’t love the integrated half bash.

  9. Do you want to sell your garbaruk? I'm game. I want to try it out because of the gearing. NW New Jersey riding is uphill twice to go down once.

  10. Love seeing the new stuff. Hopefully I'll be getting good deals on the old stuff everyone getting rid of 😊

  11. This stuff aesthetically looks amazing, X0 cranks especially

Will you be putting this on the Yeti too if you like it?

  12. Have the same thoughts as you. But borrowing a bike with it and it’s amazing. Not a fan of 12 speed ratios as they are a bit wrong for my style but still wow. Also just wish it wasn’t £1700 🤯. So I’ll be with cable. But Axs is good

  13. Looks really solid, especially those cranks with the built in bash guard. I’d want the chain guide though. I’m excited to hear how it handles they trails.

  14. Does that electric shifter compatible with a 28-30 Crank ? I have a 30 tooth 🦷 Crank and was going to switch it to a 28 tooth 🦷 Crank.!

  15. LUCKY! That garbaruk cassette will probably be my next considering the upgrade path to Transmission is just too step right now. Any insight on how the garbaruk compares to the e13 helix r?

  16. Electronic gears for me are for emtb connect all to main battery including the electronic shocks

  17. Dude congrats on the partnership with Bauerhaus!! So stoked for you on that, definitely deserved!

  18. Man, personally I think SRAM ruin the AXS. The SRAM AXS XX1 way better my opinion. The original rocker way better. Maybe because my hands. The shifting on the new cassette has a lag. I noticed that my shimano XTR is way smother shifting. With the new SRAM I will be moving to back shimano XTR.

  19. Love your videos. Thanks for first look. Can’t wait to hear how you like it after a few rides. 👍

  20. I was looking forward to the new cassette too. I've been running AXS X01 shifter and derailleur with an XT cassette and chain for a while and it works great.
I don't like the look of the new shifter, but it is backwards compatible with the older AXS shifter. The new chain is super expensive for a proprietary wear part.

I look forward to your ride impressions.
