Simply putting it, what that underhand tossing motion does, is helps you hone, in your kinesthetic feel. Basically, how much force is needed to move a predetermined weight a certain distance. Like playing corn hole or ring toss, once you find the sweet spot you can make ringers, or get the bag in the hole or even trash in a barrel more consistently.

Sarah needs some tees. There's nothing more frustrating than going to the driving range to work on your swing without teeing the ball up. When working on any swing changes, let alone just starting to learn the game, teeing the ball up is a MUST. Tees are super inexpensive, too. In fact, I'd say they're a golfer's very best friends. Only once you can strike the ball consistently off of a tee should you even begin to think about hitting it off of the ground. You'll rarely land your ball in chunked up driving range box types of dirt, so to hit balls from that is pretty unhelpful. Most fairways are in prime condition and more akin to hitting the ball off a tee than hitting it off of somebody else's dried up divot. Heck, when just beginning there's nothing wrong with letting newbees tee every ball up during a round of golf until they get comfortable. Trust me on this, Sarah. Get yourself a bag of tees and watch both your ball and confidence soar! We're looking forward to seeing you progress and having a ball playing the world's most rewarding game. Cheers!
