Dusty winds back the clock in huge Tigers v Cats clash

Dustin Martin was back to haunt Geelong as Richmond lit up the MCG, posting a 24-point victory and looking like the Tigers of old.

In Friday’s night’s upset victory, 16.6 (102) to 11.12 (78), it was Richmond’s old guard who made the impact up forward as Dustin Martin, Trent Cotchin and Jack Riewoldt combined for nine goals.

The home side set the stage early, kicking six-straight goals to register their best opening quarter of the season and take a 17-point lead into the first break, and they simply did not let up.

  1. The umpiring was utterly atrocious. Rich supporters always whinging about Geelong being looked after by the umps. They were breastfed free-kicks all night long.

  2. Hopefully Geelong play like that from now on, with the injuries, so they finally miss the 8 for once.

  3. What A Great Win Just To Beat Geelong That’s All That Matters Dusty, Cotch And Jack Were Great But I’m Really Proud Of Our Backline It’s No Easy Task Against Hawkins AND Cameron And I Was Worried At The Start When Hawkins Kicked 2 But Balta Did Great On Him And Broad Was Unbelievable On Cameron To Hold Him To Just 1 Goal Great 4 Quarter Win

  4. Don’t count Richmond out just yet. But neither can I write off Geelong despite losing by 4 goals. Good win Richmond, but it’s time to get on a winning run starting with the Dreamtime Match vs Essendon at the MCG and back to basics for Geelong before a good flight out west to Perth to face Fremantle at Optus. From a Pies Fan

  5. Geelong had 9 players out , and the umpire that let that push in the back go and the holding decisions against Geelong should be hanged , I think it ended up 20-9 free kicks against the cats , shame it would have been a better game

  6. Geelong truly recovered their early year form this game, full credit to Richmond but this is why I wasn't convinced Geelong were truly back this year

  7. Media last week: “it’s time Dimma got the tap on the shoulder”
Media this week: We told you don’t rule out the Tigers!!!!

  8. Players keep getting better, while umpires are heading in the opposite direction

  9. Felt good watching the old tigers again – as a Richmond fan I was not expecting a result like this

  10. Just watched Martins interview with Abbs after the game. He was never gonna be a brain surgeon was he. You'd have a more intelligent conversation with a house brick. Jesus!!

  11. Im confused as to why the commentators thought Dusties last goal may have been a push in the back but Hawkins 1st wasn't.
Identical scenarios where they not? (both push in the backs btw)

  12. After watching win over CATS ,tigers are celebrating like they won flag this year ,but reality is that you are far behind on the table and glory day are gone ,after still 25 years you have to say only 3 flag that's it,early celebration😂😂😂😂😂😂😂e

  13. Congratulations on Dion Prestia on 200 games and what a way to win as well for the Tigers. On a five-game losing streak, they took down the reigning Premiers, who were on a five-game WINNING streak. We thought Geelong were back, but are the Tigers back? Sorry I was very late.

  14. Just So Sick Of Stupid Geelong Fans Carrying On About How The Umpiring Was Terrible We Have Been Robbed By Umpires For YEARS And Even Though We Won This Game 20 To None They Still Whinge But Knowing Them They’ll Probably Turn Up To Richmond’s Reunion Of That Win And We’ve Beaten Geelong When It Matters In 17,19,20 And Dusty Destroyed Them All 3 Times, This Game, And He Can Do It Again Go Tigers Yellow And Black 2023 Could Still Be Tiger Time
