Max Verstappen’s dominance is worse

Is Max Verstappen’s dominance really all that bad? It might not be the worst we have ever seen just yet, but many F1 fans believe it is, and we’re only half way through the 2023 season. Why does the Verstappen/Red Bull dominance feel a bit more boring? What is it lacking? And why did the Hamilton/Mercedes era of dominance have some massively entertaining moments? Enjoy!

  1. Hey! This is a regular, F1 loop. Top team, great and ruthless driver. I do doze off for sure (go out for the day and catch-up later). I did this in the schu era, Vettel and Mercedes era.
Exception??? That 2021 season. It was a boxing match, race by race, corner by corner. And I've been watching F1 from Adelaide 1986
Answer? There are many that the F1 are trying to address but I have a good one. Restrict breaking capacity, increase braking distance

  2. I WISH YOU TO CONFRONT ALEX PALOU IN SAME CAR CONDITION , then your romance with victories will finish my dear Max !

  3. Us fans were blessed with the greatest season ever in 2021 and going back to f1 as usual with one team dominating just isn’t what anyone wants

  4. Do y’all think the spending restriction will help the competition is is Red Bull too far ahead that it guarantees the era to go on until 2026?

  5. He is more dominant than Mercedes but this time red bull is the sole dominant force, so from P3 onwards it’s a free for all between Ferrari, Aston, McLaren and Mercedes, so the podiums are nowhere near those truly boring HAM-BOT-VER podiums year after year

  6. I think Formula 1 is getting a bit too easy for Max, it's about time he turned up the AI difficulty settings.

  7. At the end of the day.. It's not all about the driver but also the team with the best car design, best pitcrew and overall package. It's great to see a team nailing all those points. That's what makes formula 1 so challenging.

    Max the greatest 👍🏽

  8. It is boring, there's no deni in that. But, as a max fan, it feels very satisfying to me to watch him violate every record in f1 like a monster.
I get actual psychological nourishment by watching the numbers go higher and higher every weekend.

  9. Max is in a form that is rarely seen in F1, by rarely I meant once in 30-40 years as the last time we saw something like this was only Schumacher and before that ? Alberto Ascari or Clark as even Senna Prost Mansell Piquet never had this kind of form, considering the fact the drivers od today are really high level as if you see almost every second driver is amazing and world champion material, be it Leclerc, Russell,Norris,Piastri,Gasly,Albon,Sainz,Ricciardo these are all really fast drivers and what's shocking is that half of them raced against Max and got beat

  10. I'm a Ferrari fan and I like MV but his dominance will continue to do an enormous damage to this sport. I honestly believe that Bottas would've done a better job than Checo, considering his Q1 quali form in Merc. I still remember the legendary documentaries of FLoz- Dani Lozano: "The Silver War" and "Silver vs Red". There were always fierce battles between Hamilton and a driver that was close to him, with him losing out on P1 at times. Even FLoz admitted that these past 2 years have not been documentary worthy and that there was no point in making them. Atp watching other motorsports becomes more fun. If they continue like this, F1 will lose its spot as the pinnacle of the sport. Merc were dominant for years but the FIA consistently banned all kinds of thing in order to limit them. It was not a dominance like this one. I can't believe it when I see RBR fans complaining at times about Hamilton's dominance when this is the worse kind of dominance, we have ever seen in F1. Checo is nowhere near the likes of Rosberg, Alonso and even Bottas. That whole cost cap punishment didn't do anything either. MV is an all time great but Checo struggling in the midfield at times and being 125 point behind his teammate is nothing short of a disgrace and a reflection of his inconsistency as a driver.

  11. Could be wrong, but fells like max has little to no overtake, like he's always miles ahead. Compared to other champion who fought for 1st place.

  12. Just think he is not a good team player and is very hypocritical. But some people can like the talent but not enjoy the person. Just what it is. Lol

  13. Nico did something that no one else was able to do… He beat Lewis in equal machinery

  14. If you look statistically there is no aguement possible. If you look at the data how much they are faster and how much RB have left its much more dominant than Merc. Hamilton mostly had someone to beat like Rosberg of Vettel and won by fewer margins (except 2014 ofc)

  15. In all honesty, Ferrari had the faster car at some point but reliability that caused grid penalties and driver mistakes threw it away for them

  16. To me, it's not really too different to Michael/Ferrari, Vettel/RBR & Lewis/Merc era during their most dominant years, but the rest of the grid is absolute chaotic this year in comparison to those eras I just mentioned.

  17. I agree that the dominance can make the sport boring, but I am enjoying this dominance more than the Mercedes one.

I think we are witnessing greatness in F1 in the form of Max Verstappen! Dood lives and breathes racing! You will never see Max in any news other than racing. Be it sim or real.

Just look at the difference between him and an experienced campaigner like Checo! Checo is known for his tyre management… but Max overtook him in this department as well

  18. The back and forth with his race engineer is a bit worrying. People say well they're good friends, but for me that's a crack. Also I don't like the casual talk during race. On the track it should always be be shop. Max and his team must always be looking to improve and optimise even if they are dominant at the moment. My opinion is also based on the last race and the "pit practice." I strongly think that redbull should've pitted then. There was no pressure, and it was a completely viable option in my opinion. Also it would've underlined maxs already stark dominance. If I were Marco, I certainly would have approached the engineer about this and have a stern conversation with him.

  19. The thing that i find remarkable is how many people are complaining about Red Bull – now after merely 2 years of dominance. Whereas i don't recall nearly as many people complaining during the 7-8 YEARS of Merc dominance.

  20. I am glad that he is dominating so much. It is a delightful sight seeing you Lulu bois crying.

  21. For me everyone should enjoy dominant eras of a driver and team because when it's over and the team and driver no longer have the best overall package, fans would wish and wonder when they'll ever go back to the top, it will go from booing to cheering, like during Seb and RB's dominant eras then his Ferrari era. Everyone should cherish this moments because we'll never ever know when a used to be dominant driver will ever have another dominant car or will they ever dominate a certain season.

  22. I'll be the contrarian here: I hate it. Max has always come across to me as a spoiled brat with an ego the size of the Nurburgring. I would be more willing to watch if ANYONE other than him was on this streak: Hamilton, Leclerc, Alonso, Perez, Gasly… anyone. But it's gotten so repetitive and boring and annoying that I don't even bother to watch anymore. Yes, the battles further back are great but all this Max stuff makes me simply *not care*. It feels like Max could get a 20 place grid penalty and be given a stop-and-go penalty at half these races and still win. I understand dominance can be fun to watch, but dominance from someone you can't stand is a fast ticket to disinterest, and that's where i've gone,

  23. Without Max, everything is tight. The car might be fast, but Max is the difference maker there. Perez is all over the place. For 8 years, all we heard was Lewis, Lewis, Lewis. Suck it up like we did. We didn't cry every week to get the rules changed to help one team compete. Now the bouncing is back, but only for Merc! George is already telling people, they need to adjust the rules to stop the bouncing! And all the drivers are complaining about it! So sad! Fix your own car, everyone else is fine!

  24. You mean better. Sorry guys, this is the first time the guy I'm supporting is dominant. I will savor it while it lasts.

  25. The gap between Max and the others is big. The gap between Checo and the others isn't big. Sometimes there isn't even a gap.

  26. As someone who started following F1 in 2009 and witnessed the entire merc dominance era, I have to say, Verstappen dominance is far worse. 2014-2016 were good years. Nico was a challange and both 2014 and 2016 were really decent seasons. 2015 was ok, it wasn't bad. 2017 in my opinion is quite underrated, it had hia moments, with sometimes Bottas, sometimes the Ferraris challenging Hamilton and it felt like for the first time Hamilton was challanged by more than one driver. Of course after Singapore the hope for an exciting end to the season was gone. 2018 in my opinion was a very decent season, the only season in the past 10 years wich came close to 2021. Ferrari had the better car for almosz 2/3 of th season and Hamilton and Vettel were batteling week in and week out. Both 4 time champions seeing who will become a 5 time champ was incredible, of course Hockenheim changed everything, but even after that we had great races from Ferrari. 2019 and 2020 really resamble 2022 and 2023. With it looking like Ferrari might be able to challange Red Bull, but ultimatly this not being the case and in 2020/2023 Hamilton/Verstappen dominating. Yet 2020 was in my opinion far more interesting due to Covid playing a roll and also Hamilton equling Micheal.

  27. If Max had been there against the best of Schumi, then I think Max would have won, if Lewis had faced today's Max when Mercedes was at its best, then I think Max would have won. If you compare Schumi and Lewis 22-25 years old against Max at the same age, Max is better as a driver. Lewis won a WC, quite a weak year as he also won the WC at fewer won GPs, before he was 28 years old, between winning his first and second WC he was nothing special, a good driver. So you can say this, if we're talking drivers under 30, then Max is the best we've seen, there he's better than everyone else. It's up to Max to win week after week, year after year – because he can set records that will be largely impossible to beat. A driver debuts around 22-23, then a few years of experience before they can challenge for the title. I think Max is the one who will take the most WC and GP wins and after that we won't see anyone take them for many, many years.

  28. 14-16 yeah not really boring, but 17-20 pretty boring this is coming from seb vettel fans ill admit seb done worse in 18 compared to 17. merc dominance its way worse redbull only had two years now so calm down people.

and i think due to recency bias ie people looking at that 2021title fight people expext every season to be like that when you cant have that. Also what makes it way worse now its de fact that we had long calendar 24 races. thats 24 races of pretty much yeah max won or checho won..

  29. Why was this never an issue in de Mercedes dominance time? Personaly I am getting irritated. Yes it would be nice if others win too, but it is in every sport that there will be dominance. In Tennis, Football, Soccer, etc. Is it because it is not a British driver? Well news, Senna and Shumacher where both not British. I loved the way Lewis was winning race after race. And Yes sometimes he did not win. And yes, I hope this season will know other winners. I am rooting for Charles, Lando, Fernando, Lewis, George, Oscar and very silently Alexander. But I am getting anoyed by all this kind of questions.
And yes, many would probably disagree. Let's agree to disagree.

  30. Who cares?Stay neutral & dont care, its been like this most of the times, its more likely to have dominance years than all out fights like in 08 or 21.Even after 26 i dont think we will get an equal fight, even if F1 goes spec series(dear God please NO,dont kill F1 this way) the same story will go on.Think fans dont undertand that Merc & Ferrari failed in this era to fill the gap between Rbr & the rest(Ferrari was ok till the Baku Oscar performance last season) cause you see the mid teams rise up.

  31. Remember that 2023 could still finish with Red Bull winning every single race.
The boy pits with 2 laps to go to grab the point for fastest lap, that's how comfortable he is.

  32. Mercedes were two seconds faster than the rest of the field. Max is 1 second faster than the rest of the field. Mercedes were celebrated. Max is getting crucified.

    Cognitive dissonance.

  33. All depends. Some dominations mainly had fights within the team. Some had (barely) competition. Honestly if you remove Max, the racing is fun and that's what we're also here to watch. The point of racing is… racing, yeah Max might win all races but what's the point if the winner is unpredictable but the racing is bad. I'd say this season is still strong
