Let’s Talk About: Scrambling – Disc Golf at Imperial Park

Today I’m trying a new format: talking about specific topics, while playing disc golf. In this video I talk about what scrambling is, pondering how to pick the right lines when the going gets rough, and asking viewers for their ideas. In contrast, I’m playing a wide open course that highlights the discrepancies between open fairways and tunnel shots. This is a more relaxed and thoughtful scored round of disc golf. Enjoy!

  1. hahaha..so where was the scramble talk? Playing a wide open course to talk scrambling probably is the logical fit. Lack of actual discussion aside, i think you need a forehand game to scramble effectively…particularly flex forehand and forehand roller. IN most scramble situations there isnt enough space for an effective backhand or you need to hit a gap so small you really need to keep your eye on the target. Also having a specialty shot or two like a thumber or grenade cant hurt. I usually keep a meat hook or two in my bag just for scrambling. I also wouldnt overlook the need for a little patience and creativity. Sometimes you need to take a little more time and survey the situation to find the best line as they arent always obvious.

  2. Hear ya on the heat. I played cube yesterday early morning and was still feeling it after the front nine and weak by the end. This heat saps ya fast. I am the same on the tree issue. They get in my head and I end up shanking it into them. I need to learn to ignore them like I do water and just throw my line like it is wide open. Again enjoyed your video.
