Justin Verlander talks 250th win, Max Scherzer trade, his own future as a Met | SNY

In this Mets post game news conference, starter Justin Verlander appreciated the ovation he got from the fans after pitching 5.1 innings on Sunday, the end result was a 5-2 Mets victory and the 250th win of his MLB career. Verlander: “Pretty cool accomplishment… a lot of blood, sweat and tears.” He expressed his surprise at the trading of Max Scherzer calling it “a bad sign”, and admitted he would not be categorically opposed to being dealt but his no-trade clause allows him to control his own destiny. “A lot of it depends on how the organization views next year… if they feel it’s best not to go for it again next year , I would be more open to (a deal).”

  1. The Mets, Jets and Rangers should just merge into 1 single failed franchise. The ineptitude is biblical.

  2. As a sports fan from the UK it's fantastic to see an elite superstar athlete speak so calmly and openly about moving ..big respect to Justin 👏

  3. Max is on the decline & will be more so next year so how do you not understand he's not a good fit next year

  4. What he's trying to say is he wants to leave this dumpster fire without saying he wants to leave bluntly in front of the media's face 😂 get out like Max did before it's too late🤣

  5. We need to keep JV for next year. I get that with his revived season, he’s probably got a lot of interest from contenders right now.

  6. Dead Arm Scherzer is to old man , hes lucky if he makes out game 162 again before he starts b!tch!ng about another dead arm !!!

  7. Max said similar regarding speaking to the front oand he was traded the next day. Verlander about to get traded 😮

  8. Hopefully, he comes back next season. He had a rough start slowed at the beginning of the season but has now been pitching like an ace these last 2 months.

  9. DO NOT Trade Verlander, and do not let Eppler trade him…why don't we want or need an Ace for the following year so that we're not a 500 ball club next year

  10. 2 future HOF pitchers basically say they want off the team in one week; not a good look for the front office. Forget about Ohtani even thinking of coming to the Mets. Can't blame Verlander for wanting to land elsewhere.

  11. It would be insane as a Rangers fan to even imagine that we could possibly get Verlander and Scherzer to complete our trifecta of former Mets aces. But it is cool to hear JV speak on this whole situation. Always respected him even if he was beating my rangers over and over.

  12. Maybe if you’d came into the season BETTER, or more prepared, or even PITCHED better early on, .. the Mets could of been better this year. You’re NOT a team player WHATSOEVER, just about yourself, have fun back in Houston. POS…

  13. May as well FIRE Buck at this point, you sent Verlander back to Houston, 😮, fire BUCK SHOWALTER, he’s the manager, MANAGEMENT!😡
