The KBO’s MVP is Coming to MLB…

Jung-hoo Lee is an outfielder for the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) Kiwoom Heroes. He has elite bat to ball skills, and could tie the all time KBO record for most gold gloves in a row for an outfielder if he wins in 2023. Jung-hoo Lee recently announced that he will be playing in his last season in the KBO in 2023, and after will be coming to Major League Baseball (MLB). He is going to be one of the most highly sought after free agents, and could very well be on the radar of just about every competitive team. Could the San Diego Padres be in on South Korea’s biggest star? I guess we will have to see…

  1. It's called Golden Glove Award in KBO, and unlike the Gold Glove Award of MLB, it is mostly based on batting stats and player's fame

  2. He is with Boras so he will land with the club with the highest bid.

  3. thanks for the video im super excited for him. He is hands down best player in Korea right now

  4. I really want to see Jung-hoo play in MLB!! Thank you for introducing our Korean player👍😄

  5. It’s so interesting video! How do Americans react to Lee Jung-hoo? Besides San Diego, what other clubs would be interested in Lee Jung-hoo?

  6. Amazing. He makes the same sliding catch every year. There is a large Korean neighborhood within walking distance from the Mets ballpark in New York. Many nice spas and restaurants. The number of Korean fans coming to see him play would more than pay for his salary and bring a positive vibe to the stadium. Unfortunately the Mets just don't get it. I know many Koreans. Koreans spend money.

  7. Omg he is still a kid! Hes got good future ahead of him. Rather have him go mid tier team to develop and actually get playing time in the big leagues. Once he is established as a starter, he can go anywhere! SD is too starstudded and not sure if he can even get time.

  8. He will go to either New York team or west coast team. Them boys always end up either or.

  9. overwhelming Korean player ever.. his batting skills are tremendous, his eyes are crazy also. his BB/SO rate was 2.05 last year , 66 BB/32 SO

  10. Thanks for this dope video! Very insightful look into Jung-Hoo, had no idea who he was until the WBC. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Hoping he joins our Padres! 💛🤎

  11. Amazing research and video, thanks for sharing this!

Despite what other guys have told you, the GG in the KBO is not a defense award, and I believe if the GG was a defense award, Junghoo would not have won it 😂

This doesn't mean he's a bad defender, we don't have a statcast, so we use something similar to TZ(Total Zone) to measure defensive ability, and it says Junghoo got above-average range and a league-leading arm as CF.

I don't know if this applies to MLB level as well, cause on the same scale, Haseong was rated as a not so good defender in 2019, but look at him now lol

  12. Average hitter with little HR power and small stature. I'd be surprised if a big market club besides the Padres pick him up. I think looking at the difference between Suzuki and Yoshida recently shows why just average doesn't get you far in MLB.

  13. Lee will be on the New York Mets next season. Mets will add Lee, Shoehi Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto this winter. Let's 🤬 go Mets ⚾🔥💯🤑💰💸💵
