  1. Wait so did the bar land on his neck? Were the plate’s radii thinner than the back of his head?

  2. I still think traditional back squats and deadlifts are overrated. Trap bar deadlifts and barbell front squats are much better for strength and posture in my opinion.

  3. I’ve always worried about this with people doing box squats. I never in a million years thought I’d see someone do this outside of a rack. You are better off just hiking up the rack bars to just below your bottom level and going no spot unless you have the setup Greg mentioned. I was always hesitant to single spot but did anyways

  4. Btw – if you do low bar, don’t put a lot of purchase into your palms of your hands. You can run the risk of the bar sliding down your back and if you don’t clear your arms you could single or double spiral fracture your humerus(es)

  5. Man i just read thru the comment.. im too much of a pussy and dont want to witnessed another individual loosing everything in a split second cause they thought they were hulk.. ego lifting have to go .. RIP

  6. It is really hit or miss when you get older. Going on 56, and I never know if I am going to feel strong or weak.
Fortunately my local gym has a squat cage and a heavy set for me is 245 lbs, more so, because of plantar fasciitis.

The bench is extremely dangerous if you do not have a spot.

I can honestly see the benefits of a Smith Machine, especially for the latter.

Deadlifts are safe in a sense. If you cannot lift it, then it will not leave the floor. However, bad form will lead to injury, or if you faint and fall backwards.

  7. This is what happens when people rely heavily on steroids and other peds. It creates a delusional imagination that one can lift more because of the energy and power from steroids and PED abuse etc 😢😢😢😢

  8. Thank you for not showing the video. I am very sensitive to seeing body damage, so it's nice to either get a warning or to be able to watch this kind of video for learning purposes without having to see the accident. Rest in Eternal peace, Justyn.

  9. Attempting to squat something that you cannot unrack and walk out is basically a suicide attempt.

Powerlifters using monolifts are a bit different because they train getting immediate tightness and controlled posture and would not unrack unless they were ready and capable.
They take sensible sized jumps and have 3 or more spotters.

It looks to me as if Justyn jumped up 40-50kg on whatever he had successfully squatted before and doesn't use smaller increments other than 20 or 25kg blues and reds.

  10. I was confused on how he past but after seeing his head lean forward and the barbell roll I instantly knew it was a neck injury. Horrible

  11. Ahh yes, good old "healthy" weightlifting. Keep you strong and "healthy" into old age, oh wait…

  12. Well, you say the spotter isn't to blame but he basically kept the weight centered on this neck while he was falling down. We know what followed.
