  1. Wish he would have made an extra year with the Habs or go back with the Pens with Crosby/Malkin.

  2. I was so hyped. Jagr was my fav growing up and honestly I was upset when we got rid of him

  3. When I saw your thumbnail I thought he was making a comeback! It was good to listen to how that all happened in 2017.

  4. It always takes a while to get used to new players. When duncan keith came to Edmonton i felt the same way.

  5. Around the time Jagr signed in Calgary, I was still getting into hockey as a kid. During this time I watched a ton of the NHL Top 100 player series videos, and I remember Jagr becoming one of my favorite players after seeing his. And then like a few weeks later he signed with the Flames and I was stunned. Like you said, it was like a dream.

  6. Jagr coming to the Flames was like Mats Sundin coming to the Canucks for us Canucks fans
it was fun and interesting to watch the ripple effect these legends have on the team

  7. Anyone else remember him in old-days Washington (Olaf Kolzig and Jeff Halpern era)? Oddly enough that's where I remember him from. Besides FLA/NJD/PIT/NYR.

  8. The Traveling Jagrs were a great fan interaction & a pleasantly innocent style of admiration for such a legend of the sport. Jagr always seemed to acknowledged them & laugh in the most sincere way.

  9. i am czech and a flames fan. this was unreal to me, jagr is treated like a hockey god here alongside hasek and others.

  10. Bro, Jagr is one thing but Edmonton Oilers legend Grant Fuhr retiring with the Flames was a trip

  11. World Championship 2015 in Czech Republic was pretty special. It was his last participation and that combined with being in front of his home crowd was crazy.

  12. I think any real hockey fan that watched him play loved his style of play. Panthers fan here…and I loved watching him on the ice…"Oh…here comes #68…now we're cookin'". His time with us in FLA was too short. Love all the shots of guys in "Jagr" wigs…so funny and what a way to show a player how much he's admired. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.🤗

  13. the man the myth the legend.
Jagar was my favorite player growing up. I had posters of him, Mario and Gretzky tacked all over my bedroom

  14. I mean…..Taylor Hall played with Buffalo. They should have been way better then how it went down

  15. Favourite thing of mine that Jagr did that summer before he was signed was all the Twitter posts about how he and his cat needed the money or something like that lmao
Kinda sad the pens never gave him a shot on his way out, he could've been a complimentary piece on those 2016/17 runs. Would've been poetic

  16. I still think about him not leaving for the 3 seasons for the KHL. He would've passed the 2000 points mark easily. He's the reason I've become a Rangers fan. Would've loved to have his Rangers jersey one day.

  17. Thinking that even if Jagr didn't score a single goal that season, his presence in that locker room brought leadership in spades. The guy didn't need to wear a 'C' to be the defacto leader on that team.

Imagine being a young kid on the team and Jagr gets to share a locker next to you. You'd be picking his brain for HOURS.

  18. Dude, I remember how many negative comments there were about his speed ( lack of ) and people thinking he wasn't doing enough. But honestly he was great to me, he still had his hockey IQ, and he could protect the puck better than anyone on the flames. He wasn't going to do anything crazy on the rush, but you could count on him to make the smart play. He looked better out there at 45 than the average grinder on entry level contracts, which is what he was basically playing for. So I was more than happy, didn't need him putting up big numbers ( although he could of had more assists if teammates shared his IQ ).

Also there was no end to comments from players and third party people on forums talking about tricks and tips he'd share with players in practice and in dryland and such. It was a shame how it all went down, but his presence was overall a net positive IMO despite all the crazy expectations some people put on him not realizing the role he was there to play.

Also, he said numerous times it was his worst off-season he'd had, which is probably responsible for a lot.

  19. It sucks that he didn't get to fully train and ensure his health before playing with the Flames. He wasn't even bad, in fact he had the best +/- on the team that year even though he didn't even play 25 games. If the circumstances were different I'm sure his NHL career could have stretched a little bit longer as a depth power play specialist. At the very least he could have finished out the 2017-18 season.

  20. I couldn't believe that he came to Philly. I was super stoked. We looked a hell of a lot better back then. A young giroux and One of my favorite flyers ever, Scott hartnell on the top. I wish I could say that they were unstoppable but….there's no honorable mention in hockey

  21. i think the whole notion of "you have to quit at the top to have maximum respect". jagr obviously loves the sport and had every right continue where he wanted and even if the team didnt find reasons to keep him in 1st line and in roster theres no shame. if anything its interesting to see when people try to fight the age and eventually succumb. there are no illusions "he quit as champion at 32, think what he could have accomplished if he continued"
