I think what qualifying is telling us is that RB are not as dominant as we think they are. They are the best… but statistically, they're not even close to the 2010's Mercedes cars. One of the other F1 YouTubers, a former employee of one of the teams put up a graph that showed Mercedes had 4 years where their average pace was far higher vs the field than this season with RB.
I thought the commentators bemoaning the qualifying format being terrible all because Russell got knocked out was poor form and showed total bias to their favourite British drivers.

The fans are the losers: FP1 and FP2 in this format means very little driving… So I agree with the likes ofToto, Horner etc. just get back to the normal way of qualifying!!
In my opinion, the two merc were going unreasonably slow in the last 2 corners. I'm glad others weren't forced to stay behind them.
My fantasy this week was Alpine and Aston, just a disaster.

Didn't qualifying used to be who can run the single fastest lap? Part of being the fastest is the car and driver but another big part. Is your program for the weekend. Now we're throwing a wrench in every one's plans and saying no you've got To Do it this way. It no longer feels like who is the fastest. It's more like who can do the best under whatever adversity we throw at you. What other sport does that?

I hated this quali format. Feels artificial af. Like sprints. All for the show. Bring back free practice and 2 days of quali on Friday and Saturday. Speed is Life. Not fake drama and suspense. Go watch a soap opera.
When did they release information that qualifying would be different to the teams???
It's really funny like, as a NASCAR fan, so many of us are like "ENOUGH OF THE GIMMICKS!!! YOU'RE RUINING WHAT'S LEFT OF THE INTEGRITY OF THE RACING!" and F1 is like, "WE NEED MORE GIMMICKS! THE RACING IS TOO BORING WHEN LEFT ON ITS OWN!"
