I was at the fight in Pittsburgh where Snipes floored Larry Holmes. Holmes got up but was out on his feet. If Snipes would have taken his time and measured his punches he would have KO'd Holmes.

Great fight! Larry Holmes was a heck of a fighter. In my top 5 greatest heavyweights of sll time. Sniper like right hand, tough & a true 15 round long distance fighter. Could take a heck of a punch as well
Another fascinating video on a fighter I otherwise wouldn't have known of. Very cool. Gerrie gave him a Hell of a fight, id like to see an in depth video of him. I don't think Snipes did himself any favors by losing his shit after the title fight. Very unbecoming even if it was a good point

Until 1999, when Evander Holyfield got a gift draw in his first fight against Lennox Lewis and Felix Trinidad got gifted the win against de laHoya, within six months of each other. Turned me completely off boxing for a couple years.

I love the story when some of the heavyweights of the 70s and 80s were celebrated at some gala event in the early 80s. Randal “Tex” Cobb, a white contender got up and said something to the effect of “I’m honored to be surrounded by some of the greatest n*gg*r/s of all time.” Snipes got up and said something like “Don’t disrespect me by calling me that name.” Cobb continued, “Relax. I wasn’t talking about you.” 😂
