That Rio Ferdinand Episode…PART 1

This week on That Peter Crouch Podcast, Crouchy, Chris and the Notorious SID are joined by Manchester United and England legend Rio Ferdinand.

Rio reminisces on his early days coming up through South London and the infamous ‘cage’ matches and we hear about his early playing days at West Ham (shoutout Julian Dicks) and Leeds.

Rio also gives a surprising insight into his larger than life dress sense and the real reason behind THAT haircut circa 2001.

On this week’s pod, we also have a very important Public Service Announcement regarding the whereabouts of Statman Dave so stay tuned for that!

  1. I’ll be honest as a Leeds fan this is first interview I’ve heard Rio speak so welll about his time at Leeds. We absolutely loved him as a player n captain and yes was a bit of jealousy. He goes Scum and done so well and we’d been royally fucked over by Ridsdale(twat). But on my part for what it’s worth is I love Rio. MOT.
Also Chris, the airport is no where near Bradford. That name proper does my head in 😅🤣

  2. Hopefully the Notorious S.I.D loan extension comes with an option to buy

  3. It’s deffo because he went Man U and not because he doesn’t talk about Leeds! Btw Alan smith got by far more abuse

  4. Couldn't stand Rio growing up, being an Arsenal fan and the fact he was ace for Man Utd.

This podcast had me cracking up on the way to work this morning. One of the best podcasts!

  5. He went to scum . Simple as that but Smith was 10 times worse

  6. I haven't seen this podcast before and its cool its not like wannabe rapper type podcast and they actually use guitar music 😂

  7. I luv Rio…but…just to take the piss, knowing how "politically correct" he has to be…..it's not fair to brand us Irishmen as "big drinkers"…despite it being bang on! I love that he's not in the "woke" brigade!! 😄

  8. Man i can listen to Sir Alex stories all day every day i swear, especially from Rio who's so well spoken and casual/relatable if that makes sense..

  9. Rio spinning this yarn about the drugs test. He was guilty and deserved the ban.

  10. I grew up in a big West Ham area and remember Rio being a big deal at the club. Also our neighbour across the street had a dog named Rio x

  11. We couldn't care less whether you speak about us (Leeds), it's because you joined them… vile club who have a history of violence and sexual assault against women.

  12. Cage football when i was younger growing up in East London in the late 80’s, early 90’s was brick walls and paint for goals 😂😂 that was before the invention of cages, probably for safety ironically! And yes, there were some very good players! Just shows you that it takes so much more than talent to make it as a pro…

  13. Leeds fan remember watching Rio a lot rolls royce of a defender and actually the only player we made money on in the firesale under Ridsdale. cant really blame him for making the step up

  14. Rio is one of the most intelligent people in football. His knowledge of the game is massively underrated. I'm surprised he didn't go into management. His talent is wasted in punditry.

  15. Loved Rio at Leeds! Guy was immense for us and I’ve never been on the band wagon of Leeds fans who hate yeah I was bitter when he left but we were in free fall back then! And the hate for Alan Smith is probably worse! Just because he was Leeds! Still both legends of the club though seen some of the best games in recent memories thanks to them!

  16. Really enjoyed part one, absolutely flew by, looking forward to part 2.

Even at the time i thought Rio's ban was ridiculous, and now with hearing that, it's possibly the stupidest thing i've ever heard

  17. This podcast be so much better if they ditched that fuckin eejit from the bbc and the bbc and just had the lads talking on it
