F1 HUNGARIAN GP live race review with Peter Windsor

Join Peter with your questions and comments as we look back at the Hungarian GP. Max Verstappen drove superbly to win for Red Bull and thus to score a record-breaking 12th consecutive win for the team; Lando Norris finished an heroic second for McLaren; and Sergio Perez recovered from another poor qualifying session finish third in the other Red Bull. Lewis Hamilton made a hesitant start from the pole and fell away from the McLarens on a heavy fuel load in the first phase of the race. Later in the afternoon, however, his Mercedes displayed a much higher level of grip and balance, enabling Lewis to finish a strong P4 and to set second-fastest race lap.

  1. A side note another young Redbull driver leader of wrc won all 13 stages in the Estonia rally Kalle Rovanpäru a new super star.

  2. 90 podiums for Holland? I am Dutch but Max was born in Belgium, lives in Monaco and drives in an individual sport.

  3. Got to give McLaren/Stella/Brown credit for restructuring the team and re-designing the car. While evolution is often the best way to go, I think sometimes a complete redesign is the way: are you listening Mercedes? It's popular to knock McLaren, but they have a real B spec car which is likely to be the biggest factor in their improvement. I don't go with the tires being the biggest factor: certainly they have helped – just look at Merc's improvement, but to leapfrog half the field like that is an achievement you can't just pin on the tires coming to McLaren.

  4. I do wonder how Lando’s driving would be if the car was suited to him as the redbull seems to for max. The mclaren is known to be have strange inherent characteristics.

  5. Great opening comments Peter. Watching records being broken is fascinating. Always thought the hybrid Merc would surpass the McLaren MP4/4 records, but RB deserve high praise for near perfection.

  6. I wish I could ask this question live and get an answer.
How did Jim Clarke be so good and get so good? How does someone jump off a tractor and just go fast, so fast?
These days the drivers start in the womb and progress through carting and other feeder series and go to driving school such as Rob Wilson.
How did the drivers of old get so good?

  7. Red Bull does not need track position with that mighty car so qualifying is not crucial. Christian admitted as much and noted that Monte Carlo took an exceptional Max lap to get it. He sets the car up for the race and the rest is history.

  8. So Hamilton ran into marbles on lap 1? I don't think it's likely there would be marbles on lap 1 sorry. Lewis was too soft defending Lando into turn 2. I can understand losing a position because you did not get a good start and I'll even give him Piastri who just slipped by on the inside after Max pushed him wide, but Lando was defendable and Lewis just didn't defend there, unfortunately. If he kept on to P3 he would have finished P2 I reckon.

  9. I love the lives, but I feel sorry for Peter having to deal with so much childishness and foolishness of the social media generation.

  10. Dear Peter, your shorter analysis videos where perfect while driving to and from work. Please keep up with that format. Love that work.

  11. 50:31 True
    55:50 Like Aston Martin?
58:20 They said that Hungary would suit him
59:31 Irrelevant when you want to know about car performance but relevant if he's talking about his race
    1:11:53 Nobody mentioned Lewis
1:15:07 Lewis also didn't stitch his best possible lap because his final sector wasn't a personal best
1:23:24 Critique of Lewis means you're not a fan of him?
1:24:29 Always giving Lewis the benefit of doubt
1:24:51 But it is necessary, to keep position. Racing is what they're paid to do.
1:25:09 He's made quite a few errors wheel-to-wheel these last few years
1:25:18 Is that really relevant to racing wheel-to-wheel at the start?
1:30:43 The bias from the kid was frustrating, constantly calling him the GOAT

  12. normal analysis videos got more views then these longer live ones, love your content sir but gotta say these are unnecessarily long, I just skip them.

  13. WRT Redbull, and Perez. I feel they are happy with Sergio's performance. If Perez was right behind Max 20 or so seconds ahead of the rest at rhe checkered flag. The eye would be on Redbull and the rule-book so to say. As it is the eye is on Max's performance not a rule-book breaking machine.

  14. Hi Peter, I am a big fan of your reviews. Are those available on other channels than YouTube? This review is to long to watch, I rather listen to it in car for instance.

  15. Please stop the live analysis. I loved your videos. Don’t have the time to sit out two hours.

  16. 1:34:21 1:53:48 Alonso at 41 stuck it on the front row in an Alpine at Canads last season whereas Lewis never qualified on the front row at all in 2022. In fact, last weekend was tbe first time he's qualified on the front row since 2021, with his teammate, both Red Bull drivers, both Ferrari drivers, Alonso, Norris and both Haas drivers having put it on the front row before him since then.

Not to mention, Alonso has had some great laps this year, like Monaco which, in my opinion, was better than Lewis' Hungary pole lap despite him not getting pole.

  17. Peter
How about the “old” 15 min recap “Race recap” at the beginning of you live feed. Then work into the interactive session for the the remaining 2 hrs.
I enjoy both, but “ tune in” for your view of the weekend
    Keep up the great work…
