  1. One of the most important fundamentals in golf, putting this into practice was the turning point in my game. Thanks again Eric.

  2. I think the left hip actually moves down, forward and around….its combination of 3 and not 2 movements….

  3. I am working on this with you and Andrew. I appreciate what you guys do to help us imorove our games

  4. Great stuff Eric. As someone who once (long ago) struggled with casting the club, i.e. swinging from the top, my main fix was to focus on starting the downswing with the hips – either bumping the left hip forward laterally, or firing the right hip. Both of these helped me to get beyond the more beginner flaw of casting the club… Another aspect of this is that I am pretty upright at the top, and thus sliding the left hip laterally helps me drop the club into the slot/on plane on the downswing. The problem I've been having is that I am sliding laterally too much while not at the same time rotating my right hip – usually resulting in pushes to the right. Your video really helped me understand that both lateral and rotational need to happen. The key of course is finding the right amount of both so that I am both moving toward the target (which promotes proper contact/low point) but also rotating in order to square up the club face. As I've worked on rotating the right hip more, I've found that it does become a bit more difficult to stay on plane, i.e. I'll tend to come over the top more and hits pulls (of course, golf is this constant balancing act and small degrees of variance can result is large disparities in results – which is one reason why this game is so difficult)

I find your instruction to be a good blend of technical without being overly analytical, i.e. talking about elbow angles, wrist supination, etc., etc. I feel like you "get it", in terms of your instruction methods….

  5. Another outstanding video!
One caveat -the left hip will move laterally and rotate in transition / downswing as you are demonstrating ;however, if the outside of the left hip moves LATERALLY beyond the OUTSIDE of your left foot, you will run out of range of motion for further left hip rotation. Most top golfers do get their left knee beyond the outside of their left foot , but not the outside of their left hip.

  6. Eric. You are the best teacher online . I started to move pressure to right heel very early in the golf swing…

  7. Ben Hogan teaches the same thing in Five Lessons. He teaches that you stay centered in the backswing, then the hips lead the way through the downswing. Same thing the Eric teaches, just worded a little differently.

  8. What really helped me was your segment on the short swing. Before each shot, I do the no backswing drill, followed by the hip high backswing taking both to a full follow through. Then I take my full swing going to the full follow through I reached with the short swing drills. I now seem to have better compression and the ball goes pretty straight and I am getting more distance with my irons.

  9. 오늘도 잘 배웁니다
백스윙 오른발로 버티고 다운스윙때 외쪽 힙이 열리면서 발폭만큼 타겟방향을로 시프트 되는 백스윔 노 시프트 다운스윙 시프트

  10. This is the one move that I concentrate on. Has really helped me break 80. Stay centered on backswing. Break the wall on downswing

  11. The best thing about this particular "on the wall" concept is that many players might also get better shoulder tilt / side bend pieces for free! Great instruction as always EC!

  12. Hi EC, fyi my completely benign comments sometimes dissapear from your always excellent posts, very shortly after posting. Any idea why?? Last one was about Xander's extremely vertical left arm at top. Reminds me of Couples. Was curious if you've ever done analysis on all the varying swing planes and what they all mean?

  13. Ok but can I just point out that Schauffele very much does shift his weight during the backswing. In fact, the very first thing he does to initiate his swing is to shift his weight more to his back foot.

  14. This is correct, but I had issues getting weight on my front foot and “shifting weight” did wonders for me. So it is the correct process of thought to fix some swings.

  15. Extremely great drill ..hard for a lot of people to sway on the down swing ..that drill shows you what to do .. I like belt bucket on the turn ..thanks😅

  16. Great video! I would just like to know wether there is scientific evidence of an advantage of keeping your weight centered over transferring it since I’ve heard renowned coaches like Foley and Como teach people to transfer their weight in the backswing. Is there any data backing up either side or is it all just a matter of preference?

  17. Hi Eric, I know it’s hard without seeing a swing, but I “feel” like my hip/butt go towards the target in the backswing and go even farther towards the target in the downswing. I don’t feel in sync and feel like I have the opposite problem in the backswing. Do you have any videos or drills or feels? Thanks
